Contacted STI, they sure arent much help, could not give me name of dealer to see
gun, if I wish I could go to Georgetown plant
and view gun by appointment,I could buy at that time if I had a concealed carry permit.
I could also have a dealer order but that
would mean "buying without looking" I dont
know about all of you but I am shocked by
the customer service of most companies now.

Muscles, I haven't checked yet, I've been real busy at work. The local Turner's doesn't carry, but they can probably order. The last time I was at B&B, they had 4 M1As, so I assumed they could get SA 1911s, can't remember if they had any in stock though.

The STI is interesting, thanks for the webpage, I haven't really looked at any of those before. The price seems reasonable if the quality is good.

I continue my search for a 1911,
I have looked at
Kimber
Springfield
STI Trojan
Para-Ordnance
Like them all,However I have found a number
of dealers are dropping Kimber, there does
seem to be a problem of some type.
At this point I am leaning to the Springfield
loaded, because of price, and when contacted
their customer service will respond.

Actually my local gun store just dropped Kimber, but it wasn't really because of their quality, they where sick of Kimber's billing department. They would pay the bills promptly, and then keep receiving notices that they where past due. Even when the checks came back cashed from the bank. So they decided to go with SA.

No dealers around here dropping Kimber...in fact, they can't keep them on the shelves. We have three Kimber Master Dealers within a half hour of my house, probably three times that within an hours drive.

I acquired a Springfield 1911 full size loaded stainless and so far its great. I aksed a friend who has a Colt Gold Cup to check it out and he really liked the Springfield, especially for for the money (under $575). Also, the loaded came with a coupon for discount merchandise from Springfield including extra mags and a way cool t-shirt. Im having an ambidextrous safety installed because Im left handed, and maybe Pachmyre grips. However, the cocabolo grips look great so its a tough call. The only critcisms Ive seen here on the firingline was that Springfields have a two piece forged barrel and are made in Brazil.
