DubcHicks beat me to it. Look at the RIA 10mm in the 1911 platform. From what I've read, they are rock solid performers. Good quality and fairly reasonable price.
Back in 1993, I bought a 1006 on a whim. Now I'm glad I did. I think they are currently averaging $750 or so in good condition. Replacement parts can be hard to find, but they are built like tanks, so don't need parts very often.
