Where have all the DAO Pistols gone?

TunnelRat....I get where you are coming from. I guess my angle was more related to adult training in general, not that any officers were half a$$ed.

My P99 is DA/SA. Love the short and smooth SA and the second strike DA capability. My CZ100 has a long take up. That's probably the weak link of DAO pistols as a genre: the long trigger pull.

I hear ya. I spent years shooting DA/SA and I had the time to give it the practice it needs. The reality is I can maintain the same level of proficiency with a lot less shooting with striker fired safe action type pistols.

I did put this article up as an example. Were none of the police agencies issued a DAO pistol? Especially when switching over from double action revolvers?

CZ P01 and CZ PCR are DA/SA pistols. As someone mentioned the PPX is a hammer fired pistol, though not exactly a DAO. The Beretta 96D Brigadier is a straight up DAO pistol with a rather heavy trigger pull.

Sure. The pistols I already mentioned.

The PPX trigger, isn't as heavy as a traditional DAO pistol. Though it has a bobbed hammer, the PPX feels striker-like at about 6lb and gives you a nice consistent trigger pull.

That Walther PPX won't win any pistol beauty pageants, but I don't think there is another new gun for $279.99 (CDNN price) that's better, and I'm not going to start a Taurus PT111 / PT145 rant here!

There are a couple of hammer fired DAO pocket pistols in production out there, like the S&W M&P Bodyguard.

I was thinking service or compact pistols like police or detectives would carry. Not chambered in 9mm Short.

I'm a revolver guy but its hard to conceal most revolvers on my size frame. My EDC is a old style LC9, my night stand gun is a Sig P250c, and my BUG is a LCP. If I'm wearing bulky clothes I go to my LCR.

I do not like soft/quick triggers and I can not shoot them accurately. I bought the LC9s and hated it so bad I traded it back to my FFL for the last LC9 he had left!

I sure hope that the firearm manufacturers keep a few DA/DAO hand guns around for those of us that like to pull a trigger not push a button.

You can make a Glock trigger have a 11 pound pull.

Technical Information:
Yields an 11 lb trigger pull when used with factory parts.
Yield a 5 to 6 lb trigger pull when combined with the 3.5# connector.
I would think there is some combo to get it around 7 or 8 pounds.

I like DA/SA guns but the transition between triggers has a learning curve.
I'm thinking of making my Beretta 92FS DAO once I get the DA pull down to a reasonable number.

I had a S&W 4586 but did not like its lack of restrike capability. Other than that, it was a good pistol. Would like to get a cZ 75 DAO.
