Where do you shoot?

I'm lucky to have several ranges within a 20 minute drive. Two of those are within 2 miles (one is a county park). Also Bass Pro is close to my office. I've gone there during lunch, but they're too busy on the weekends.

Belong to a 500 member private shooting club. Range is situated on 240 acres. Club does have many Target Lane Areas to cover everything from a 22 caliber to a Barrett 50 in rifle and a couple trap and one skeet range also. We have a Club House with all amenity's one would want/need. I also hunt on 160 acre parcel of woodlands. It too has a 150 yrd flat target lane with a cement pad and permanent table for sighting in on. Neighbors ask to use it and are always given permission too. Benefit for us both: They get the use of my shooting Lane.:) I get their Watch Dog Eyes on my cabin & place when I'm not there. "a Great arrangement!!":D

Being on 90 acres of farm, I simply step out back.
I DO have some serious "property duties" to perform.

Been about a month since I went to a "big city" and attended a formal shotgun range, and over a year since I went to a "big city" to shoot rim-fire matches.

My 500 yard range - my house at upper left.

Closeup of the 8' x 8' butt with a 42" steel plate hanging on it. I had just shot a 3 shot group with the Sharps pictured above measuring 3 3/8". :)

I've got a Cowboy Action setup right off my deck.

A couple of foot tripped traps, several other target butts at 7, 15, 25, 50, 75, 100, and every 50 yards thereafter out to 500 yards, and enough room to go out to at least 1500 yards by cutting down a handful of trees.

I have a couple of places. Im a member of a private range with 150 members.... Not the prettiest range around but its 10 minutes from the house. It has a 25 yard pistol range, 100-300 yard rifle range, 75 yard rimfire only range, shotgun range for clays and a archery range. All for under $100 a year.

Also 10 minutes away the hunting club I am in I can outside of hunting season shoot anywhere thats safe on their 8000 acres. I can get 400+ yards easy there.

Finally went to the big outdoor range near me.

The bays were setup like ArmoredMan's pix.

I had a bay all to myself. Has 1000 yard rifle range too!

Seeing I don't live in the country or have any friends that do either I shoot at a local in doors range $10 per trip no time limit ( as long as I am done before they close) .

I have a covered "carport" (12X28) on one side of my garage/shop that has never had a car in it. One end is covered shooting position, the other end is wood shed. We mostly shoot >30 meters from that covered position, The lane is 35 meters to the backstop. Then we have another lane, with a different backstop that can go 200 meters that we don't use as much. (no cover)

About 60 Ft from the front door for the 30 meter, about 300' to the other lane.

Norpoint indoor range, about 45 minutes away. Cost is $15, without a time limit. 20% discount for active and retired service men. Retired service man, that's me.

Indoor, because I mainly shoot at, or up to 25 yards with handgun's. That, and my gun's don't like desert sand/dust of outdoors.

TBS, if I was shooting a rifle at 100-300 yards, well....

I see some of you guys posting pics of nearby shooting areas. I guess you can develop several loads jump on a 4 wheeler if needed , shoot'em and get instant feedback. Hell you can do this for hours at a time till you get a load you like.... HAHAHA suckers......

I don't have to deal with that headache ha ha ha.... since I'm limited on when I can shoot and where I can......

I have yard work and honey do's to fill my time with.

DAMN!!!!

No need for cursing Mr. Red Dog. You got the sympathy vote from us before the Honey do list. There are tear drops all over your post. ;)

I moved away from the city about 40+ years ago for reasons like this.
To answer:
my back yard;
a private club range about and hour from my house, $30.00 a year;
a semi-public range about two hours from my house, $1.00 a day;
a public range about an hour from my house, free.
I don't like the public one even though it is the best facility. It is open to any kind of yokel. Too many shooting there with no sense of range courtesy or safety. If it were legal and I wouldn't go to hell, I would shoot these jerks.
My backyard is fun and convenient but the way I have it set up is only 35 yards.

Only have a couple places 750 yrds of power line on private land.& 2 beanfields with about 3000 acres a piece.But I try to make do;):D
I mean to tell you I love it.

Middle of the Desert.

I hope to go to the indoor range at Calibers, 10 bucks plus cost of ammo and you get a target, eye and ear protection, and all day to shoot. plus, wide selection of pistols, rifles, and a couple SMG's you can rent.

When i lived in Apache Junction, AZ I shot indoor at The Caswells range in Mesa just east of Mesa Drive. Outdoor I shot at the Usrey Pass range also in mesa.

Now that I live in Eastern AZ, I have several options. I have a 25 yd range for sighting in and load test off my front porch. About 50 yards I have a 300 yard range set up.

When my exSeal friend comes over with his 50cal or 338 we have up to a mile range laid out just east of my home.

The only problem is that the Marines and Air Farce Helos often stray out of their designated training area and use our back stop, (1000 foot hill) as a terrain masking feature. One Saturday they flew through our range at about 150 feet and continued over my home at the same altitude. Since I notified the flight safety people they have stopped violating the flight minimums.
