Where do you shoot?

Shooting out the window, in your backyard, private ranges....just disgusting...
I like having to go shooting on certain days and then have to wait 30 mins for a lane to open while paying $13 an hour..... that's how shooting should be!!!!

:D:D

b) I'm surrounded by the San Juan National Forest - which allows shooting just about anywhere --- as long as I have a backstop, and I don't shoot trees.

I went hiking in the Weminuche Wilderness (San Juan Range). Was amazing.

Where do I shoot? Debating between 3 big ranges outside of town since I'm done w the indoor range, it was just such a gross experience each time.

One of the big ranges has a 1000 yd range!

Looking shooting at whichever one is most active in IDPA.

Free city maintained outdoor range, has a main, wide 300 yard bay, and the left side is uncovered with trap setup. All ranges but one have covers and pad with benches, the 100 yard range has only a cover.

To the right, 100 yard bay, no real good pictures, never use it.

Far right side, 2 side by side 25 yard pistol bays,

Left of the main bay is the 80 yard range,

Best outdoor range I've ever used...now we have to find that beehive that is somewhere around, scouts will come out to "watch" us shoot.

Right HERE.

It doesn't look like much from that angle, but the rocks represent the crest of a (mostly) a dirt berm maybe 8 meters tall and maybe 100 meters long. Nice backstop.

It's great. I've been shooting there for 30 years and have yet to run into another person out there. I'm not like everyone else on this board. To me, shooting is a pretty solitary endeavor. I've been to ranges where there are other people and I hate it. If I have to have another person standing near me, I simply won't go.

There are a few indoor ranges within minutes of my house if I want to shoot my pistol. If I want to shoot my shotgun or .22 lr I can drive to some hunting property about 20 mins. from my house. If I want to shoot some distance (100-600 yards) I can drive either 1hr 45 minutes to one spot or 2 hours to another.

Wow, those pics. And that's all free??!!

When I think how that compares to my my range (picture a dirty, dark, smokey hallway) it makes me want to cry. And I pay for the privilege to shoot there :( Better than nothing I guess. Arizona for the win!

It is completely free, and the city maintains it well. :) The drawbacks - one porta potty, and it took a major effort from local activists to get that. No water, bring your own.
Other than that, it's heaven. :D

Twenty years ago WA used to be wide open for Rec shooting. And then the gvt started shutting it all down. You can still find spots, but it's increasingly difficult.

I belong to Shooting Sports Northwest in Bothell, WA. Indoor. 10 lanes plus reactive steel. They have a website, google them.

For rifles i go to Kenmore Gun Ranges or Everett Sportsmans club. Both open to public. Kenmore has trap and 5 stand too. Rifle ranges suck compared to the great outdoors though.

I shot out the window of my house....Got a 400 yard target and it is great when it's raining or 30 below...Sometimes I even shoot a deer or two out there..Fox.coyote-whatever happens to be in the way...Scares my wife at times unless I tell her I am gonna touch one of...Great for load testing..Reload a few and open the window..John

I grew up shooting in the back yard with distances up to about 150 yds. I never replicated that after I got out of school.

Currently, I shoot at one of two outdoor ranges. One is about a 5 minute drive and the other is about an hour. There are two indoor ranges within about 20 mimutes of me also, but I seldom shoot at either place.
