For me it is my father in laws land about an hour and a half away. I will occasionally go to the local indoor range

Family property

My parents have a lot of land and nothing for miles behind their house. I do go to indoor ranges that are closer to home, but the majority is at my parent's house because it is free. Also, it is a lot easier to collect my 45 brass when I am the only one shooting...

I forgot to add public land....I do not know how to edit polls but if a mod or someone could edit the poll to include public land that would be great

You guys can shoot on public land?

You drive along, see an open field and you are allowed to just go shooting?

Im from South Africa. We can only shoot on a range that is registered as such and nowhere else.

Bass Pro Shop

I like to go to the Bass Pro range. It is about 1/2 hour from home and they never charge me for some reason! I am not a member and have been going for a few months now and have yet pay a dime.

Amin, that would most likely be private land as it is owned by an individual or company. Here we have some public land that is owed by the government. Usually small parcels here and there that have been donated and are kind of like a wild refuge. Some you can shoot on, some you can hunt but cannot shoot like target shooting and some you can't hunt or shoot.

Kitchen door lets casual people know this is a shooting house

Shooting bench on front porch and lots of 22 brass in the driveway and targets on the bench confirm this is a shooting house

Target stand in front yard Usually has 4 to 8 targets hanging on it in case I get the urge to rip off a few shots. I get the urge often but only with revolvers, pistols, rifles and shotguns. I gave up heavy weapons.

Back yard is set up for 25 to 150 yards. I don't need to go far. When I want to there is a 200 yard rifle range 1 mile from my house and a trap/skeet range with 200 yard rifle and 25-50 yard pistol range set up in case I want to shoot with others only 7 miles from my house.

99% of all of my shooting is done on BLM, Forest Service, or private lands that are open to public access.

I went to a local range two weeks ago..........was the first trip to an actual gun range in about 3 years.

Nice weather, usually in my back yard. (20 acres, bordered by woods, in a bowl. Pretty ideal setup. Note: county, not city, and shooting is legal from 0700-2300 local.)

Poor weather, or at times when I have range credit built up from recent gun purchases, at the indoor range at my LGS.

I've never actually been to a real range. I'm surrounded by National Forest so I usually go to one of the cinder pits there to shoot.

There are places on BLM land and on National Forest land where target shooting is permitted. A good backstop in necessary. These are not regulated ranges, just a safe spot to shoot. Sometimes shooters are so sloppy that an area will be closed. There are no ranges in the Flagstaff area of Northern Arizona so safe areas on public land is used by police and civilians alike.

I typically go to an indoor pay range. I like to use the outdoor state game land shooting range but it's about a 45 minute drive, it's free though so if I ever plan on being awhile I'll go there, unfortunately its not really set up for handguns, they have targets at 50yards and 100 yards. I also go to my dads once in awhile, he's up in the mountains with some property that I can set targets up on.

I would like to join a gun club, I just have to find my way into one.
