Where are you finding pistol powder??

I haven't seen Accurate #'s 2, 5, 7, or 9 anywhere - LGS, or on line - in over 23 months (since 6/13/13, to be exact). So it's encouraging to at least hear that some AA5 showed up for somebody.

Their AA#9 was gone by yesterday (I got mine earlier) but still saw #5. See reloadingunlimited.com. If holding out for a price you like, it could be a different matter entirely.

I'm not holding out for any price. I have all the powder I need. I just peruse some of the various sites (including gunbot) just to see what's available.

Available or not, I'm not much of a bargain shopper. I couldn't tell you how much I paid for any of the powder (20+ lbs) I've recently bought.

Pistol powder is definitely making a comeback. It is very easy to find right now. Pistol primer is still hard to find.

My experience lately has been that all primers have been readily available for a while. If you can't find pistol primers you're not looking very hard:

Do you have any links to any of that very-easy-to-find pistol powder that you are referring to?

I've been able to buy enough WSF online to keep my wife and I going at a rate of 4K+/month of 9mm. It's out there if you're patient and quick to act. The WSF is for my 147gr Bayou loads. I've got 16 lbs HP-38 as backup and a bit of VV340 and HS-6. This gives me enough of other powders to build up loads should the supply of WSF dry up.

W231 and AA5 are two different animals.
I agree,
#5 works well for me for upper end 38spl with 158gr bullets and is great for 44spl and 380acp with heavier bullets. I really like it for 45acp with 230gr bullets for pistol and 200gr in a camp carbine, I have also had good results with #5 in 357 mag with plated bullets. Good stuff if used right.

I guess I should clarify, 45. I mean reasonably priced small pistol primers. $35 for 1000 is not reasonable.

I paid twice that, when no one had any except the hoarders. If you need primers, buy them. It's not a buyer's market.

Natchez got powder recently that never showed up on the Gunbot listings. I scored eight pound jugs of Accurate #7 and #5.(I am HAPPY)
Was in Greentop in Va last Saturday and they had BE 86 stacked up everywhere in all size containers at pretty good prices. Also had Unique and Red Dot in stock. I take all this as a good sign.

Still there today, with Green Dot, and Clay Dot, Promo, Power Pistol, etc. Picked up 1 lb each of Clay Dot and BE86 to add to the stash. would have also gotten some Green Dot, but all they had was 8lb jugs, and I don't have an immediate need, so passed on that.

Greentop is 15 mi. north of Richmond VA, just off I-95 if anyone in the area needs powder.

I don't have any urgent plans for the BE86, but was looking at trying it in 9mm instead of Unique which has been my go-to for 9mm. I just bought a compact 9mm and want to see if the reduced muzzle flash is noticeable.

I'd like to see BE 86 on the various burn rate charts, but it looks like it's comparable to Unique or Power Pistol. Alliant does have load data on their website. Anybody have any other data/idea on BE86 burn rate?

My experiences:

During the past year I have been on the "notify me when available" lists for powders at both Brownell's and MidwayUSA; I have not been notified about any powder availability from either company, which suggests to me I am still real far down on their waiting lists...

We have Cabelas, Scheel's, and Sportsmans Warehouse in my area.

I have never found any handgun powders at Cabelas.

At Scheels I have found CFE pistol, Silhouette, and HS6. They get in one pounders of HS6 real often.

Sportsmans Warehouse distributes an array of Alliant powders every couple of weeks or so. The local store has management that likes to play games, instructing its employees to stonewall regular customers who come in on known delivery days. Policy is to put powder out at random times so those of us who are serious can waste our time and gas while those who are not serious can just fall into it by pure chance. Still, I have managed to get Bullseye and Unique there...

It's a jungle.

It's a jungle (lol)

Still, I have managed to get Bullseye and Unique

In the handgun powder world, Alliant seems to be the most abundant. Which is a good thing because they make good stuff.

In a pinch, I could meet at least 80% of my loading needs using just Bullseye and Unique.

I now use ERT7 for all postols

Ordered a bunch of ETR7 from expansion industries. Very happy with it. Use it in everything from 9mm to 45LC.

Load data similar to Titegroup and Universal. Bulkier powder (like TrailBoss without the hole). Meters well in my Saeco. Fills a 9mm case perfectly.

Extremely clean burning!!!!!! No detectable smoke at higher loads. I PC everything so I can SEE the powder smoke, not the grease smoke!!

Pretty inexpensive as long as you order at least 8 or 16#.

The HAZMAT fee will kill you on small quantites!!!!!! As with ALL on-line orders!

Was just able to order 20 lbs of 4227 and 300-MP from Midsouth, and they have Longshot available as of an hour ago. Average price per pound delivered to the doorstep was $23.40. Fairly limited application for what I bought but my only serious interest at the moment is 45 Win Mag and 10mm, so I'm happy.

Returning after a long break I had a heck of a time finding anything. I found one can of BE-86 at my local Cabella's just by chance, and picked up some H-110 and 296 at a local gun show. I'd love to find some 231 and unique but haven't seen any. The BE-86 is interesting. Their site shows some loads which fortunately I do shoot, but not enough. My manuals are all outdated and need replacing too. Anyone know if any of the manuals besides Alliant's have BE-86 data? The new Sierra manual I bought doesn't. I've downloaded some information but being rather old school I like my manuals!
