Where are good AK's coming from now????

Arsenal's are nice.

CAI builds aren't bad, some are better than others. I have a Polish Milled and I am very happy with it. You can't beat a milled AK for 600 bucks.

Waffen Works AK's are becoming more and more popular. I just ordered one. They are supposedly very nice for their price point, and they are a good option between the $900 AK's and the $400 ones. They have the nicest gun kote I have seen on a factory/stock AK.

If you want something really nice, buy a parts kit and a Nodak receiver and have Jim Fuller or any other top notch AK builder assemble and build you a custom AK. You will NOT be disappointed.

SAIGA

A $300 Siaga is as good as the overpriced Arsenal rifles. Same thing but they did the additional work and marked it way up.

You can reconfigure them to their original configuration yourself for much less than Arsenal but if you start getting into triangle folding stocks or similar then that will put you further up in price range.

Get an RPD ;)

I hate to do this because people get so offended=- but it needs to be said.

There is a big difference between "works fine" and "is good enough FOR ME" than "is the best/one of the best"

Frequently, in particular I notice with AKs and especially optics, ppl who are most likely 'recessionistas' have bought or had their economical choiced AKs and optics and then decide they're not only the best, the people who have more expensive (read: better than theirs) are not only stupid and wrong, they haven't got better ones anymore cause they spent more.

I'm sorry ... WASR AK's are probably JUST FINE for most of you WASR owners. They are STILL THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL .... This is a fact not an opinion. But it seems like, I would never have to bring that up if it wasn't for the millions of Wasr owners who have joined the crowd online and decided, "yah I agree with the other guy... I could only afford $300 or only Spent the $300, and my AK shoots,...SO I HAVE THE BEST ONE! You with the $1000 Arsenals, not only DONT YOU HAVE THE BEST ONE cause I have an AK called WASR, but you're also STUPID for buying a more expensive one than me!!!"

this IS ESPECIALLY prevalent in optics...The Optics Nazis if you will, they get on tears that if you have anything more expenive than aPrimary Arms you're a moron! And not only are you a moron, their PA is better than your Aimpoint cause that's what they have , and they spent $100 and you spent $500 so you're a moron and theirs is better.

AGAIN- THIS TAKES NOTHING AWAY FROM A WASR or a PA sight ETC.

The WASR is still the entry level AK. The PA is still an entry-styled knockoff.

BOTH PERFECTLY SERVICABLE.

Neither one even close to the actual "best' ones, despite good recomendations nor many complaints to the contrary.

I feel bad but I feel like this had to be said, please don;t take me wrong.

I was trying to put it in a nicer light... but your spot on. I had a WASR, and I have checked a lot of them into our gun smiths at work. They are bottom line, no two ways around it.

Millions of AK users around the world can't be wrong. Imagine all the users of the lowly built AKs that use them to protect thier life every day around the world. If it aint broke it don't need fixing.

Some of us that don't feel the need for a $700 + plus AK it is what it is. I assure you that I will be happy with my junk WASR 10/63 everytime I go to the range and will never regret owning a $700.+ AK-47. I am sorry that you can't be happy for me.

I am happy that you are happy with your $700.00+ AK 47 and dont think less of you.

I spent $1200+ on restoring a Garand at DGR because it was worth every penny of my hard earned $1200+. I smile every time I fire it.

I one day look forward to taking that vintage Colt Woodsman my father in law gave me and dropping some cash on it to restore it to primo condition.

I may even buy myself a 7.62x 51 SCAR those are not cheap...

I like my AKs like they were made by the communist comrades back in the day

I am that guy that when he took his first sip of the new and improved Coca- Cola threw it in the trash beat feet to the phone called Coca-Cola and asked them if they had lost thier minds.....what in the HE double toothpicks did they think they were doing...

It is what it is.

the fork is inserted....

Your WASR is not an AK-47... neither are any of the Arsenal's so this point isn't exactly relevant.

I don't know what you are referring to as "restoring" a garand or a woodsman... generally original condition is considered more valuable?

I have an all original 1943 Garand in great shape that I bought off a guy this time last year for $600
