When They Say Yard, do They Mean Feet?

Actual target fired in competition last year at 25 yds. I saw this shot. 10 shots. Slow fire, won 1st place. The only thing was this was shot with a muzzleloading pistol and the shooter was 60.

Now, if he could rip off 8 to 10 shots (of .45 ACP, for instance..better yet, DAO or DAK only) @ 25 yards, rapid fire within 5 seconds or less and have the target looking like this, I would be even more impressed.
