When someone asks "what semi-auto rimfire pistol,,,?"

Until I saw the budget, I was also going to recommend the Sig P220, P226 or P229 or CZ options. I think they would definitely fit the "duty" classification and they can later be adapted to other calibers.

With the budget, the "New" box checked, and the "Not these" qualifiers (including the 22/45), and the fact that you posted in the semi-automatic forum (assuming you've eliminated revolvers), I think it's going to be tough to beat the Ruger SR-22, at least nothing that comes immediately to mind.

Hello Pilot,,,
He absolutely loves my CZ Kadet,,,
But they don't market the Kadet as a standalone pistol anymore.

New Kadet conversion kits are running over $400.00,,,
With the base 75B pistol at just over $525.00,,,
That puts the gun way out of his reach.

Hi Aarond! Yes, they don't sell the dedicated Kadet Pistol in the U.S. anymore, and I don't even know if they offer it elsewhere. Anyway, I just scored a really nice used Kadet locally. Yes, I got lucky. I have had the Kadet Kit since 2001, but just couldn't pass up that deal, so used ones are out there.

He probably should go SR-22 if on a tight budget, and wants a DA/SA .22.

"...but not a SA target style..." "For what, then?", would be my question. Implying nothing. And "What's your budget?" would be next.
