When I hear....G26/G27....

*shrug* There was once a G27 around here. It's main use was Dad's CCW for hot summers, because it concealed well and he could sweat on it without destroying it (Virginia is hot and humid and my Dad is a human sprinkler, it's gross)

He had it a long time. It took all abuse and was completely reliable.

Not long after I got my XD sub compact in .40 S&W, the G27 went in on trade on... something.

Side by side, there wasn't much difference in size. IMHO, the XD is a bit more comfortable to shoot. Dad agreed.

Anyway, Dad's pretty much done with .40 in general, what with the improvements in 9mm ammunition in the past decade or so, and he'd just rather wear a big baggier pants than shoot a baby Glock, so nowadays it's full size 9 that gets sweated on.

I wouldn't trash on someone for carrying one, and I certainly wouldn't doubt that their are people have a distinct preference for them. It's not like I don't have oddities in my gun preferences. I would hope that someone who promoted them as AWESOMESAUCE does so with more than a couple hundred rounds through theirs and with the understanding that the felt recoil on a gun that size is harsher than other (size) options and not really appropriate for a newcomer to shooting.

You wrote: "They are so small in the grip, with such a high bore axis, they wiggle loose with every shot."

Perhaps you should go to youtube and watch the Glock 26 and 27 videos that are made by a man who calls himself Hickok45

I think you may find that it might just be you and not that Glock.

So...basically, we have an individual who was unable to shoot a G26 effectively, and decided to denigrate the pistol and it's owners online, rather than figure out what he's doing wrong.
"high bore axis"? Nonsense.
"jumps around in firing"? Absurd.
I use different sized mags for different uses, but I often use the 10rd standard flat base mag.
Even with +P+ 127gn Ranger, I don't notice any of these issues.

I'm not one who thinks my favorite should be Everybodies favorite. But the G26 is one of the best Glocks, and certainly one of the best, most capable CCW pistols ever.
Don't like Glocks looks? Fine.
Don't like the Glock trigger? Cool.
Don't like the Glock grip angle? No problem.
Don't like the lack of a manual safety? Plenty of other choices.

I just hope that if you should ever face an opponent armed with a G26, you don't just shrug and say "whew, it's a G26...he must be a newbie, he'll never hit me from that range with that g26 bouncing around in his hand with that glock trigger".
Could turn out badly for you.

I normally don't post replies on this forum, but I felt I should this time. It sounds to me like you really don't like Glocks. I was the same way, honestly. I was trying to settle on a new daily ccw about a year ago and ultimately decided on the G29 in the end. Before this weapon, I thought I would never own a handgun without a manual safety. As for the high bore axis, I can handle full power 10mm without it jumping. You should try to adjust your grip before giving up on the Glock. A year later, I'm glad I picked the Glock.

Lol. It's way too fat to make any such list objectively.
Not really, and especially for a realistic caliber, and realistic shooter.

Then again, Im not fat, so I can carry pretty much anything without too much trouble, and shooting the 26 is just as easy as a larger gun. ;)

Lol. Read him more closely. Top 5 ever made. That's simply ridiculous without a qualifier such as "top five double stack concealment pistols ever. . . .

There's a whole host of single stack 9's that are better at that concealment thing than is the comparative porker that the G26 is.

Ah, but they arent as capable as the 26 either, now are they. ;)

Hey, where ya been by the way, we havent had that true to the bone, dripping cyinical, diehard Glock hater spirit around for awhile. :D

Honestly, when I hear:

My g26/g27 shoots like a full size gun...

My g26/g27 disappears in my IWB holster....

When I hear these 2 phrases, I struggle to give credibility to the rest of the post. I've shout one of these. They are so small in the grip, with such a high bore axis, they wiggle loose with every shot. Have the people who say this shot a Kahr or the M&P? Both offer a much better grasp...

How can it disappear? It has the width of a double stack Glock slide! Have you tried an XDS, Kahr or similar....even a 1911 is slimmer in the slide!

If you do love your g26/g27, great! We all need to find our gun.

Honestly, when I hear someone bash a Glock, any Glock, for having a high bore axis, I generally write them off as a crank, and an utter ignorant who probably has little of value to contribute to any other firearm discussion either! ;)

I run Talon rubberized grips on all my Glocks. I just like them. On the 26 I use the factory +2 baseplates. It creates a size that I like and I do like getting my pinky on there, though I've shot the 26 with the flat baseplates and it shot very similar. I just find when shooting one handed it helps me with a bit of control.

I agree about shooting one handed. I have no problem shooting two handed with the short grip 6 round magazine in my Walther PPS but one handed is a bit more challenging though I am OK with it now but so far I have not found a time where I could not easily conceal my PPS with the 7 round magazine that gives me full grip in about 4.8 inch pistol height.

Hey, as someone who carries one concealed daily, Id say it fits the bill nicely. And thats under a pair of basically "fitted" Carhartt carpenter jeans.

Although it can also easily use the 33 round mag, if it were ever needed, not that Im into the mall ninja stuff. It is something all those other single stacks dont seem to be able to claim though, dont you agree?.

Have you tried to conceal a G26? It may be thicker than single stack 9mm's on the market, but it is far from being a porker. There are obviously smaller guns out there, and if size is that much of an issue, get a .380. Some of them make the PM9 look like a porker in comparison.

You may be onto something if you can find a way to stuff 10 rounds into a PM9 though.

I can only speculate that "conceals easily" doesn't mean what you think it means.

No one has to go to a .380 pop gun to get a 9mm a lot flatter than a g26 will ever be.

Lest anyone think I am hating on Glock alone, all sawed off double stack pistols present the same short gripped yet porky profile. Some more, some less, but all never to be mistaken for "thin."

I use a simple kydex clip on IWB. I've carried my G26 many times using just a T-shirt or polo shirt...easily, and with no worries of inadvertent display.
I call that "concealable".
As for the 33rd mag, I never tried it with the G26, but I do have a G17 mag with an OEM +2 extension. 20 is plenty.

It means just that, "conceals easily", and it really does. I do it on a daily basis. Maybe you should give it a try before you condemn.

Id like to see a list of all these "so much slimmer and smaller" 9mm's too, especially the ones that offer what the 26 does, you know, capacity, sights, shootability etc.

Thats how I normally carry my 17 these days, using the exact same cover garments in the summer.

Its always interesting to hear how many people think Glocks are "thick", especially when you actually put the calipers on them, and the grips on things like my 17's, measure thinner than my Colt Commander and GM.
