When do you decide it's time

^ That's basically where I'm at. If I were gifted a family relic (may happen some day from my father-in-law), that is the one instance where I would end up with a safe queen. It was a family gift so you can't sell it and out of respect for my father-in-law, I would probably never shoot it. That's the only scenario. On the other hand there are some guns he has that I would take out on occasion and shoot in his honor ('This is the gun my father-in-Law gave to me ...'). As I have no interest in buying guns I can't shoot, so as far as finding a steal and purchasing that rare unfired gun, nope, it won't happen. Partially because I'm not interested in rare unfired so I wouldn't even ask the price. Just like I said, for me the enjoyment is the experience. I don't own cars I won't drive and I won't buy guns I won't shoot. vroom vroom, bang bang ..... ahhhhhh! :D

Even if I spent a million dollars on a gun I'd shoot it...ahhhh...maybe not. I haven't bought one yet. Everything gets shot more than once.

What's a "SAFE QUEEN".???

Guns are like cars... They are meant to be used. I never understood why some people buy cars and put them away or on display. I feel the same about guns.. Every gun I have ever owned has been shot rigorously.

When I pick up a new gun the first thing I do is run home clean it and go back to the range. The day I bought my GP100 me and a couple of friends ran 400 rds through it maybe more.

I know there are collectors items out there but I'd still fire them once in a while even if it was just a few rounds a year.

If all we were talking about in here were GP-100's... then everyone would agree with you. You've got a Budweiser there, terrific modern revolver, a wonderful, quality tool that performs all day long and will last a good long time and always do what you ask. Like a Bud, you grab some and crack one with a bowl of Doritos when you watch a game.

Some other guns are different, for many reasons.

This is not a world of black and white. And I don't know of a single person on this planet that goes out and buys a GP-100 and then refuses to EVER shoot it and locks it away in a climate controlled safe, never touched by human hands and certainly never shot.

Unfortunately, all my guns are safe queens these days. Between the long hours at work, the kids, and whatever chores the wife has lined up for me on weekends, I haven't been to the range in months.

Add a baaadddd economy to that equation and it also explains a lot. I have noticed a significant drop-off at my local range. I really envy the folks that have their own land!

-Cheers
