What's Your Profession Pt III

Good grief, there's a lot of computer geeks on here! :)

I'm a housewife, homeschool mom, and part time construction worker.

As for me I work in the Medical Field, and as a part time consultant for deployment of Win2k. (Blah) So I just basiclly sit on my butt most of the day.

I suppose you could call me a rocket scientist. Guidance and Control Engineer.

College senior, getting my BS in physiology, going to med school hopefully in year or two.

Currently over the summer I'm working for the University building a department website and trying to get the pain in the butt servers (IIS and IAS) to cooperate with what I want to do.

Hey Cliff, I've been around UNIX for nearly as long. If you have the UNIX/C source code for "nlist.c", can you please e-mail it to me?

FUD - The last source code I had was for Unix SYS V, Rel. 3 on 9 track tape.

I finally dumped it after Solaris became the standard OS on all of our Sun stuff. Solaris... what a bloated combo of SYS V, SunOS and Xenix. The kernel that ate Chicago.

Now I'm sounding like an old fart. :) Why not just grab the source from one of the many Linux distribs?

Spent many years in the armored trucking, check cashing and security business in NYC. Also did some skip tracing for a bail bondsman.

College senior (workin' on second year) for a BS in CompSci.

Currently working in tech support, dreaming of a Unix SysAdmin job like Cliff. ;)

Attorney by training, but a NetWare systems administrator and manager of a desktop support group because the hours and $$$ were better.

I also have a side job hosting websites. Anyone need a site ?

Tell us that I sent you from TFL.

As a retiree, my primary profession now is conserving energy--I rest a lot. :)

Looking back, I started in automotive engineering; then got into electricity at a power company, learning about all them wars up over your head. Got hired into the world of dirt, learning about dams and reservoirs, floods and storms and how to move water from the Mississippi to Lubbock (expensively).

During all this, I also built engines for sports cars and race cars; ran cattle on the old family ranch; traded in coins and guns; owned a couple of folks-music night clubs; did a lot of huntin' and fishin' and shootin' and reloadin'.

Somehow or 'nother I wound up in the middle of nowhere in a desert, with a backhoe and dumptruck and lots of elbow room. Then, here came a computer and one thing led to another, what with the Internet and all; and doggoned if Rich didn't post a notice on TxGuns about TFL.

And here I am.

Gonna rest, sometime.
