What's your next rifle?

PVL, a rifle chambered for 270 will accomplish the same thing with less recoil, weight, and expense. The 7mm RM was designed for hunters seeking the reach of the 270 with the punch of the 30-06. A 270 is perfectly adequate for Mule Deer. Ideal really.

When you look at reloading manuals and compare apples to apples (barrel length), the 7MM RM isn't really much better than the 270 and 30-06.

If I have my way, and the prices eventually drop, I want to get my hands on a nice M1903 Springfield or a Mk III Lee Enfield

The latter is much harder to get or so it seems sadly.

Kind of wish I could find one with the muzzle cap, I really like those models for some odd reason.

X-Bolt Stalker in .308. Actually, I already have it, having picked it up from the 10-day wait 10 days ago. But I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. The Vortex Diamondback 4-14x40 AO that was "in stock for immediate shipment" on the vendor's website turned out to be on back order after I finalized the order.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics I didn't have my camera charged up and ready to go today.

I've got a savage 6.5X55 barrel that needs a home

I want to build a light weight, easy recoiling, tack driving Mule deer rifle.
Just looking for a used stevens or savage donor action.

My next gun is a .338 Win Mag. in a Ruger M77 worked up with a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14X40 Mil Dot Scope. I'm working on it now.

edit:

Very nice set up Taylorce1!

I have in mind a project for my next rifle.
It consists of a Winchester Model 70 action in 30-06. Probably a push feed because they can be found for a reasonable price. The trigger on these when properly adjusted is absolutely wonderful. This is my favorite action and round.
The stock will be a Winchester Model 70 Target style in walnut pillar bedded . My favorite stock contour and material.
The barrel will be a 26" bull contour. You guessed it, my favorite.
This will be set up to run with ether a scope or aperture sights depending on my mood.
All I have to do now is inform my wife and start collecting parts.:D

I'm moving to MS next year so my Encore 209x50 ML barrel goes bye bye and I get to pick up either a 45-70 bbl or a .35 Whelen (or maybe both). Love those liberal "primitive weapons" regulations.

I'd like my next buy to be a Ruger American but I can't decide or really even justify getting any of the available chamberings because of what I already own. So if I can keep myself from buying an RAR just because they're accurate and cheap, my next purchase might be a Mauser action to be barreled .244 rem. (or a 1:12 twist 6mm rem whatever you want to call it) I have a 1:9 6mm rem but I'd like something that will shoot the lightest 6mm bullets better.

Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD 20" heavy barrel is waiting to be picked up tomorrow. NightForce 8-32 x 56 is sitting on the bench waiting for it. Bell & Carson M40 stock is in the mail. Be here Tuesday. Detachable magazine(s) and bottom metal are in the mail. Be here Monday. No one has a Jewell trigger right now so that will have to wait. Anyone care to place a bet that the National INSTANT Check System isn't INSTANT? I love standing at the counter CCW in hand pistol on my side and hearing... I'm sorry they put a HOLD on your purchase..... AGAIN!!!! IDIOT GOVERNMENT DRONES! No one else has the same middle name or SS# as mine. But I'mmmmmmmm oooonnn the list(s). And the drones NEVER call back. GGGGRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll get to pick it up next Thursday.

At least all the parts will be in by then. :D

I've been eyeballing two rifles. One is a Savage in .260 Remington. The other is a 6mmBR in 1 in 8 twist. Also a Savage.

I'm going to sell a .223 bolt gun I have to finance the .260. I already replaced that .223 with another .223 rifle.

I'll most likely buy the .260 rifle first.

Springfield scout M1A .308 and a Russian SKS. I've also been eyeballing a 7mm or maybe a another 30-06. Need some for when the kids grow up right. ;)
