What's your idea of a "girl gun?"

Slightly off topic, but...

... the thing I really dislike about pink and other colored pistols, is that they make it impossible to quickly identify "training shapes" vs actual, functional handguns.

I kind of miss the days when funny colors were reserved to identify retention training aids.

The trend towards coloring live weapons has also diminished the effectiveness of making kid's toy guns in other colors, to protect against mistaken defensive shootings.

Just my $.02.

Two valid points by MLeake, the second in his most recent post, and the first addressing one of my pet peeves in the earlier one. It seems silly to me to put pink grips on an extremely light gun and call it a women's model. Very light hand guns necessarily lack sufficient mass to absorb recoil and are more difficult for anyone to shoot. Why we dump those on women I don't know. To me, if you make any adjustment in design for women, it should be in the direction of a heavier pistol rather than a lighter one. Just one chubby old guy's opinion, of course.

Whew! I just did a search of this thread for "PX4" which is what I have. I was worried someone would say I own a "girl gun".

You spoke too soon!

A Beretta PX4G, or an H&K USP or maybe a Beretta Model 86, a Browning Buckmark or a Bond Arms 45Colt/410.

Those are my wife's current favorites... Of course the PX4 and the USP used to be mine so they are just as much guy guns as they are girl guns.

My "girl gun" I guess would be my XD-45. It's the one my wife always makes sure I take to the range with us, so she can shoot it.
She loves it and she shoots it very, very well.

My wife's favorite is a Smith & Wesson 686+ in .357 mag (she generally shoots .38's from it) . . .

I have heard that the "AR 15" is sometimes refered to as " The Barbie doll of the firearms world" (I guess due to all of the stuff you can buy for it).

I suppose that would make them "girls guns".

Now, where did I put the lid for THAT can of worms:rolleyes::D

Onthefly.
If I remember correctly, repentance is always having to do 2 or more of the same pennences (bad grammer I think).
So I guess you may need to do a Hail Mary (Model 617) and maybe a Novena or 2 (A Model 629 or similar)
That ought to do it, unless you really need to repent for much more. You get the idea, i'm sure.

A girl gun?
Bushnell bought out Uncle Mike's and had my company quote the cost of producing grips for the K & N frame revolvers in hot pink. I guess that would certainly make one of them a "Girl Gun"
About a year ago they asked us to quote the Mossberg Folding Stock in Pink also. They haven't ordered any of them yet, so I guess it's a dead idea over in Kansas City.

That would be any firearm that causes a female novice shooter to squeal, "Oooooh, how cute!" or that causes a female who is an experienced shooter to purr, "That's a beautifullll gun...."

So that would cover an NAA Mini-Revolver and a high-end 1911, a .410 and a 12-gauge with fancy furniture, a Crickett and a tricked out elephant rifle -- and by extension, everything in between.

In every language, the first word after 'Mama' that every kid learns is 'Mine!' A system that doesn't allow ownership, that doesn't allow you to say 'Mine!' when you grow up, has -to put it mildly- a fatal design flaw. -- Frank Zappa

I gotta agree with Badlander

any 9 millimeter is a girly gun

(running and ducking for cover )

And that XD in baby poop brown makes my Glock look down right pretty in comparison. (running faster now!)

Neither my sister (5'2" 130lbs) my sister-in-law (5'5" 120lbs) or my cousin (5'9" 120lbs) can pull the trigger without tremendous effort in double action on my 640 or my 686. I've come to the conclusion that people with low grip strength shouldn't own a non modified revolver for that reason. Most of those people will be small women.

That's just my own experience.

For home protection?

12 gauge pump.

Unless she has a real big purse.

If someone is pounding on the door a round being chambered in a shotgun will get their attention a lot quicker then yelling "I got a gun".
