the MX-8 is one of the finest O/U's ever created. Here I am back in 1993 with my MX-8 raised high in the air after shooting a high score at the Warrington Club in central PA...
When I bought mine I already had a good selection of respectable shotguns but nothing in quite the same league. When I shot one of the other guns I'd ask "Why I am shooting THIS when I have a Perazzi back at home." There was only one thing to do. I sold most of them to buy a 28 gauge P-gun just like my 12. No regrets.
It's the metric equivalent of 30" -- for some reason the pic makes it look long. I must confess, it's not my favorite -- I shoot better scores [skeet] with my 28" P-guns. I've only shot a few practice rounds with the MX8, so the jury is still out.
My favorite WAS my Ithaca Model 37 but being young and dumb I sold it a long time ago.
The favorite I still own and use is my Franchi semi-auto. It is 20 guage and swings like lightning. It really became my favorite after I recently had it bored out and fitted with screw in choke tubes. Now I can use it for everything as it was a cylinder bore before. Great at 25 yds and under but if I was slow on the trigger the birds & bunnies were out of range.
I like the old JC Higgins model 20/ High Standard Model 200 12 gauge. I just like them and find it really hard to pass one up. If anyone local to me has one for cheap, let me know.
My favorite shotgun is the Remington 1100 & 11-87
I have been hunting with one or the other for nearly 40 years and packed them for countless miles quail hunting.
Mossberg 590A1. There's nothing better than heading out to the range with that bad boy and a case of shells and blasting away. The heavy barrel really seems to help ameliorate the recoil. Shooting high brass shells is almost pleasant as long as they're not magnums.
