What's your favorite .40 pistol?

Of the 40's I've used/ owned/ rented/ borrowed (that should cover it ;) ) I really like the Beretta 96fs the best.

On my to own list in order of preference:

1. CZ75B
2. Browning Hi Power
3. Sig P229

Actually, the CZ and Browning are tied for first but I already have a Browning in 9mm and no CZs yet.

Right now, I only have two forties, a Ruger KP944D and a Glock G23. The Ruger is the current favorite, I guess because I have had and shot it for between 3 and 4 years now. I'm used to it and comfortable with it. I ususally shoot at 25 yards with it (target) and tactical ranges for other practice (IDPA).

The G23 is, however, narrowing the gap. I've only had it a couple of months. I'm having trouble with getting used to the trigger, keep throwing the rounds up (shooting high). Out of a five round string, I usually get 3 within a couple of inches in the black and then throw one high and another left and/or high. I know it's me, not the gun. Believe it or not, I have improved with it, but have a ways to go. Standard range is 20 to 25 yards. Had to start at 15 yards and work my way back with it.

I like the Glock's lightness, compactness and first round trigger pull over the Ruger. Just need to put a couple of thousand more rounds through it.

Well, let me be the first to say... Kimber Pro Carry.

It's the only .40 I own, so that may tilt the scale a little. I'm a fan of the 1911 style in all calibers.

Tried a lot

Tried a lot of them....
S & W 4006,
Witness .40
Sig 239 in .40
Astra A-75 in .40
H & K USP .40 compact.

In my estimate, they are all compromises for me and I have finally selected the H & K USP 40 compact. cause it has the most features that I like, but still am not 100% happy with. So for the next year or so, I will shoot the heck out of it and really decide if I like it enough to be my carry gun.

still researching

Tried the following:
S & W 4006
Witness in .40 (commander length and officers length)
Astra A-75 in .40
H & K USP .40 compact.

Settled on the H & K compact because it has the most features that I want on my CCW. Now I get to shoot the heck out of it for the next year or so until I am comfortable with it. If not, I will be on the search mode again.

Even though I like the Sig 229 & the HK USPc...my favorite 40 at this point in time is the only pistol I own...a sweet G23...

Okay,
I'm going for the G-27. Unbelievable firepower in such a compact package. I almost like it more than my G19 (almost)
