Yeah, but long out of production and not a 3" barrel but 2 3/4" A Ruger stainless speed six .357
Not as smooth as a comparable Smith but hell for stout and smooth and accurate enough for what a short barreled 357 was designed for - close range self defense.
My favorite, and only, 3" revolver is this .41 mag S&W that Mark Hartshorne at Pinnacle put together for me using a beater M28-2, a titanium .41 mag cylinder from an M357, and a 4" M58 barrel. It's round butted and Mark cut the barrel to 3" and made the front sight for it. The matte blue finish fits the utilitarian nature of the gun perfectly and contrasts nicely with the titanium cylinder. The idea was to create something similar to a 3" M66 on steroids and Mark nailed it. I carry this all the time around our farm.
Astra Police revolver...near an N frame size, 6 shot .38 Spl...Has the Astra adjustable trigger pull feature, gives you 4 choices for trigger feel...A heavy, solid steel revolver, used Italian police trade...
Man this thread is making me drool, that .41 is just awesome, and that 3" Model 66 would fit nicely in my collection. Now I have something else to start looking for, that 66.
I have not had the good fortune some of you have had here, but I can say that I had a 3" Charter Arms Pathfinder .22lr almost 30 years ago that I thought was a real gem.
I have a 3” heavy barrel S&W Model 60 that was a special run for a police distributor, displaying an engraving of the dept badge on the right side. Add a Tyler T grip and it becomes a very nice defensive pistol and points better than my 2” Mod 60. Unfortunately with all the semi autos at my disposal it resides in the safe most of the time.
