mine,is my 44 magnum redhawk.accurate, adequate enough to hunt deer.potent enough to stop just about anything in its tracks.i only wish ruger would bring back the redhawk in 357 mag.
This frame is heavy enough to support shooting fairely hot 44 Special loads (240 gr. hard cast RNFP) at 1000 fps, and also handy enough to carry all day in a holster without undue stress of the lower back. In the UP of Michigan, Black Bears sometimes require discouragement and I would trust this gun to provide it.
Now, in the lower peninsula, the threat comes from a somewhat softer source. Down here I carrg my trusty Smith 442 in .38 Special.
I could have said one of my .41 Magnums. I am very fond of my Smith M57 six-inch, my Smith M58 nickel four-inch, and the seven and a half and five and a half inch .41 Magnum Redhawks.
If I really think about it though my favorite has to be the Smith M649 .38 Special. It goes with me to most places, and I shoot it almost every time I got to the range. It is easily hidden, accurate and relatively powerful.
My "favorite" seems to change daily but I have one that I always seem to like... a S&W MP/model 10 with 5" pencil barrel and round butt. It handles/balances better than any other revolver and is very accurate. It may not be "sexy" by today's standard but it is my favorite.
2.2" Ruger SP101 .357MAG
5.5" Ruger Single Six .22LR
7.5" Ruger SS Super Blackhawk .44MAG
4.0" S&W M57-1 .41MAG
But none of them holds the place in my collection of the 686. It was my first ever firearm, bought after I bought my home. My neighbor & I used to walk up into the farm that borders our properties & spend Saturday afternoons terrorizing tin cans & paper plates!
It still looks almost like new in box, & shoots better. I've come sooo close to selling it, but always decide not to!
All time favorite is my Smith 25-5, 6 inch N Frame. It has cylinders in both .45 Colt and .45ACP. A lot of work on this one, with hard chrome finish, custom grips, and the best DA/SA action I have ever experienced on a Smith.
Hi All
Just joined and my first post.
My favorite wheelgun is my S&W 25-9, what's a 25-9? It's a model 25 with a unfluted cylinder, with a heavy barreled 5 incher and it says "Model of 1989" on the barrel. It's my favorite because it will shoot cloverleaf groups all day with Winchester Silvertips. After that one is my Colt Python, a gun I have owned for 28 years.
