What's Your CCW Weight?

These weights are fully loaded, including chamber:

Kel Tec P3AT (1st gen), 7 rounds: 11.1 ounces

Kel Tec PF-9, 8 rounds: 18.4 ounces

S&W CS45 (7 rounds): 29.1 ounces

Tanfoglio Witness Compact 10mm (12 rounds): 37.3 ounces

And that's as big as I go. I'm too short waisted and too narrow front to back to carry a full size comfortably without printing unless I wear a coat. Even the Witness compact is borderline with a loose shirt.

Whatever a fully loaded Sig 220 weighs. Seems heavier at some times more than others. Carry it usually in a serpa holster with paddle attachment. Pretty nifty set up. Love me some Sig 220! The hammer of THOR!!

Main carry at work is a Kahr MK40 @ 28 oz with 5 in the mag and one in the pipe.

Off work is a Kahr P380 @ 13.8 with 6 in the mag and 1 in the pipe.

I sometimes carry a S&W 640 no dash with Herrett's Shooting Star stocks @ 25.2 with 5 rounds of 357.

Weight has never been a factor for any of my firearm purchases.
When shopping for my HD pistol, which will eventually become my EDC, I chose what fits well, and I practice enough to say that I shoot reasonably well with it too.
It's an HK 45, and I love it. it's a fantastic firearm. when I get my permit, I'm gonna carry it too. I know it's a fairly sizable weapon, but I will find a way.

I personally carry an HK45CT with threaded barrel. The pistol loaded is about 36 oz. more or less. It's close to being a full size gun, and most people would probably consider it full sized. I tried the Ruger LCP when it came out, but I feel undergunned carrying it. For some folks, they like the smaller weapons, which is certainly fine, and while I won't carry one, I certainly won't bad mouth someone who does. I have been in a few situations where having a small pocket pistol would have been disastrous, and fortunately I had a full size weapon with me.

As some have said, having a good belt and holster is critical for carrying more full sized weapons. I personally use a Raven Concealment System holster on a Wilderness Operator's belt. They allow me to carry my HK under a tee shirt without it being seen.

As of yesterday,,,

10.5 ounces unloaded.

On Wednesday I took possession of a new taurus PT-22 PLY,,,
I took it out yesterday for a quick break-in shoot,,,
150 rounds of CCI mini-mag and not one jam.

If it will feed the hollow-point Mini-mags as well as it did the round nose,,,
I am going to see if I like it as my new summer carry pistol.

The Model 36 is getting heavy.

The day I worry about the weight of a handgun is the day I turn in my man card, start wearing a dress, and change my handle to "TeamLimpWrist".

:D

You may be lucky like me and have one that even feeds Yellow-Jackets. I carried mine for a time and felt pretty good about it. If it'll feed the YJs reliably, they make one of the better loads for SD, IMO.;)

18oz is comfortable for me for pocket carry, I noticed that when it went over 21 oz it was noticable. It's not like it would break my back but I didn't like 22oz in my front pocket.

I also wieghed ammo. Seven rounds of Federal 124gr Nyclad weigh a little over 4oz.

Cougar, 32oz empty. Nope, I've never weighed it.

Personally, I don't mind feeling the weight of the gun. I'm looking for something smaller to carry in the summer but not because of weight, just for less bulge/better concealment.

G19 -31oz loaded

Interesting. As I noted my G36 .45ACP is 26.5 oz 7 rds. loaded....actual measured weight. Of course I assume you have something like 15+ loaded in the G19.

All-steel 1911, 7+1 rounds of 230grn Hydra-Shok, Wilson mag, a few goodies but nothing I don't need in a carry pistol... probably right around 3lbs.

I carry a Dan Wesson bobtail Commander in 10mm auto, with a 9 round magazine, and extra magazine and a Starfire flashlight . Also a heavy gunbelt I've used for about 30 years, an IWB holster, and a One Magazine, One Tactical Light Pouch.

The loaded handgun must weight a bit under 3 pounds and for the rest of the stuff add a couple of more pounds.

This is a slight lightening of the load since I went to the Dan Wesson Commander from my Colt Delta Elite.
