What's with all this "liberal" nonsense?

*sigh*

Look....there are issues that the lefties and the righties are never going to see eye to eye on. I think that's been demonstrated repeatedly in this thread.
Not the point. The point is that we should be able to listen to both sides on any issue and then if we disagree *rationally* explain why. It's not really that hard.

And who was threatened?
A group of people - Republicans. Death threats because of their beliefs - if it were any other group of people, it would be called a hate crime. But it's okay, it was only Republicans that were threatened.
No reasonable person would think that he was threatening every Republican in the country.
No reasonable person would make such a threat to begin with. Or is it okay with you if just a few Republicans are killed?
Defend the indefensible?
Thats' right - indefensible. Anyone with a shred of common sense knows that there are certain things that you don't joke about - ever. Slavery, rape and the holocaust are among those things. Oh, yes - and for you Democrats, murdering people - Republican or otherwise.

Reasonable people don't joke about murder. Those who talk about it and aren't joking - as was the case with the discussion in question - are nothing more than psychotic with rage.
It was a ****ing joke.
Obscenity - nice. That really makes you look rational and reasoned. It also seems to be the by-product of attempting to defend the indefensible.

Don't look now Redworm, but your "Democrat rage" is showing...

As I said before -
Anyone with a shred of common sense knows that there are certain things that you don't joke about - ever. Slavery, rape and the holocaust are among those things. Oh, yes - and for you Democrats, murdering people - Republican or otherwise.

BTW, I have a hell of a sense of humor; here's but one example -
Q: What does Bill Clinton say to Hillary before sex?
A: "Put this bag over your head, honey - it's an aphrodesiac!"

Okay, one more and then it's bedtime -
Q: Why does Bill Clinton like Arkansas whores the best?
A: Kinfolks get half off the normal price.:D

it's from a while ago :P

some liberal comedian said:
The President and Mrs. Clinton are in the first row just above the dug out at a Yankees game. The row behind them is taken up with Secret Service agents. One of them leans over and whispers something in the President's ear.

President Clinton pauses, then grabs Hilary by the scruff of the neck and heaves her over the railing. She falls 10 feet to the top of the dug out, kicking and screaming obscenities all the way down, and after she lands, the President bows to the crowd, and shakes hands and "high fives" everyone near him.

The same Secret Service agent again leans over and whispers,"No Mr. President, I said, they want you to throw out the first PITCH."

Steelheart, the phrase "out of my cold, dead hands" is also a reference to resisting the government through violence. But that's okay, right?

This thread started as an appeal to cut down on the partisan name calling on this board, and turned into exactly that, with the most ardent name callers redoubling their efforts to label and libel with out even a hint of evidence or logic.

I don't know whether this thread should considered embarrasing, or just utterly predictable.

Or how 'bout this one:

"When it's time to bury 'em, it's time to dig 'em up"

Sorry to say it Steelheart, but you're so partisan that you can't see the irony. Every threat that you see from the left is a direct reflection of every threat from the right. You guys are every bit as bad as they are.

Somebody earlier mentioned that being in the middle of the road means you can get hit from both directions (or something to that effect)? Man, is that the truth! Best we can hope for at this point is a traffic jam.

In the process of re-reading PJ O'Rourke's "Parliament of Whores" that I bought last week (I loaned out my original and haven't seen it in 10 years or so), I find that there's a new forward by Andrew Ferguson with an interesting (to me) quote...
"Everything's gotten worse."
Now I could see his point. This is the way we conservatives talk. "Everything's gotten worse" is the only metaphysical proposition we agree on.
...later in the forward...A.F. expounds that even through the 90's, with the radical shift from GHB/Dem Congress to BJClinton/DemCongress to BJClinton/RepubCongress nothing has really changed... and as we all know, since nothing has changed, "Everything's gotten worse".

And we want it the way it was, or so it seems.

But do we really?

Little kids, playing in the sandbox at age three will call each other "poo-poo head". I've seen it and laughed at it. They grow up to become... Us.

The "liberals" want to bring us... forward. To what or where, I'm not always sure. Maybe to a better place. Maybe not. "Conservatives" want to hold us back to what once was.

Far be it from me to suggest that "progress", careful progress, actually needs both types. Those to go out and explore the "wilderness" and those to hold down the fort, hoping that something like "home" will still be there when we get back... but then we want to change it with our newfangled ideas.

i.e.
Republic form of gov't? Are they INSANE? Everyone knows that only a strong Monarch can effectively RULE a mob of... of... workers.

The various States will combine to form the federal republic, but we all know that the State's rights will be the best for the people. A stong Federal gov't is an evil thing and no nation can last with the tyranny of a strong Federal Gov't holding the monies and issuing rules for all, and anyone who disagrees is just... INSANE.

Separate but Equal. ??? you're kidding, right? Are you INSANE?

Allow women to vote? Are you INSANE?

Outlaw BEER??? YOU ARE INSANE!

Let the Gov't take care of & control our economy? Insanity.

Allow 18 year olds to vote? Are you INSANE?

Perhaps we are insane. But I notice from this thread that we still like to call each other names. I think most here would agree that our gov't spends too much. Might even agree that it takes (taxes) too much. Might even agree that there's not much difference between today's D's and today's R's.

Nothing wrong with being either a liberal or a conservative.
But when our gov't moves towards totalitarianism... enough.

P.S. Yes... I am insane :D

HAHHAHAHAAH :p

yea I've always enjoyed that one. also a classic

some other liberal comedian said:
Bill Clinton and the Pope die on the same day, but a mixup in the afterlife paperwork sends them to the wrong places: the Pope goes to hell and Bill goes to heaven.

After a couple of days they fix this problem and the Pope gets on the escalator to go to heaven and Bill gets on the other to go to hell.

The two pass each other on the way and Bill asks, "How bad was it down there?"

The Pope says, "Not that bad, kind of hot and noisy, but I am glad to be going up to heaven now.

There's one thing up there I have been looking forward to." Bill asks, "What is that?" The Pope replies, "I want to meet the Virgin Mary." Bill, shakes his head sheepishly and whispers to the Pope, "Too late."

I've been called worse...

Sorry to say it Steelheart, but you're so partisan that you can't see the irony.
The American Heritage Dictionary defines partisan as: "A militant supporter of a party, cause, faction, person or idea."

Yes, I am a militant supporter of the Second Amendment; the idea that We The People have an inalienable right bestowed on us by the Almighty to defense of self, family and freedom and that we therefore have an inalienable right to the tools necessary for defense - not the tools approved by the ruling political class, but the tools of our choosing.

This right is not unique to America - it just happens that we are the only nation on earth that has preserved it to some degree. It is a right bestowed upon human beings everywhere - it is a human right.

There is nothing more corrupt than a group of people - politicians or otherwise - who would attempt to deny people this right. This right is non-negotiable and is not subject to the whim of politicians or other control freaks who need unlimited power and a nation of defensless people under their heel to satisfy their pathalogic egos.

There can be no compromse with these people, if we are to keep what is ours. Not just our guns, but our liberty and our ability to say "enough" to a government that oversteps its bounds. Therefore, it will be one cold day in hell before I vote for a Kerry, Gore, Clinton, Kennedy, Pelosi, Feinstein or Schumer.

I will never bend over for the enemies of my right to arms.

If you want to keep your guns, your liberty, your ability to say "enough" - I would highly recommend that you do likewise.

So call me partisan - maybe to you it is a dirty word, but to me it is a compliment.:D

One thing I see in this thead is denial, from the farther left side. The more conservative and trditional thinkers never sink in denial, their happy to be traditional, and or conservative thinkers. The liberal thinkers tend to deney or excuse much more, the other thing I notice is the "Repackaging" of liberal thinking as somehow mainstream thinking.

Im not a liberal, Im middle of the road, this is the most common form of denial as it is with many thought disorders. It's also called repackaging liberalism as less of a threat to a free and traditional thinking society.

Liberals also get very angry if their rule of "Thought" is not adopted by everyone else. They are always quick to point out, Homophobia, xenaphobia, war mongerer, racist, sexist, and, my favorite, is macho male, the list of insults never stops. Feminest liberals hate men and masculinity. Remember the "college studies" to try to indoctrinate men into believing they were really Half female and men should appease their female side.

Liberal is Liberal is Liberal.

So, liberal is liberal, and also anything that is also not conservative is therefore liberal?

Bwhahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Have you considered that some conservatives aren't as conservative as you, and therefore also liberals? Why, there must be only 4 or 5 conservatives in the whole country!

am I a liberal in your eyes? does everyone have to be either liberal or conservative? are there only two camps of opinions? what do you call someone who is against gun control but also against the war on drugs? what do you call someone who despises big business tax cuts but also despises special interest group tax cuts? what do you call someone who demands that government does not belong in the church but that the church does not belong in government? what do you call someone who despises welfare and social security but supports the right of all consenting adults to marry who they choose?

redworm, in my eyes your just one big wonderful liberal with alot of challenging questions. TFL wouldn't be TFL without ya!

I'm not grouping people into one or the other, it looks that way though. My point is more about the illness and cleverness of liberalism and how it hurts and tears down our American society. Read my post, no one groups and labels people like the left.

what exactly makes me a liberal? why do you believe that people can only be placed into one of two ideologies? you say that no one groups and labels like the left....but that's exactly what you're doing

It's both embarrassing and predictable.

The fact is, both sides of the aisle are talking (yelling?) past each other and accomplishing absolutely nothing. Unless you count the constant sniping and bitterness from both sides of the aisle as something...

*sigh*

Supposedly, the thing that brings us together on this board is our love of guns. And on this forum, in particular, is our love of Liberty and Freedom. Sadly, this thread shows none of those.

Threads such as this show me that we have much to work on. When one can not see past the tip of ones nose, one will never see another's viewpoints.

Having finally read this thread, I can say that it was pointless after the first page. I should have taken note of it a lot sooner. All I can do at this point to rectify that mistake is to close this thread due to the ill manners of several of the participants.
