What's the stupidest gun deal you never made?

A local WWII veteran was offering up an original Johnson rifle with a copy of his service records and a copy of a book about his unit that was autographed by him and had pictures of him and the weapon in action inside. He was having medical/financial issues and wanted a quick sale, put up the whole package for $3600. I had the money but felt like a jerk taking advantage of the poor guy. It would have been a heck of an investment. even around here with our horrible economy word spread quick and it sold within hours. I had about 3rd crack at it after it came in.
