whats the best deal youve ever got?

Two best deals, back in the early eighties I bought my first AK47 for $108.00 and about the same time my S&W M57 for $279.00. A few years later thanks to Bill Clinton I sold the AK for $1200.00. I do still have the M57, this one will never leave.

Best deal ever, Many year ago I bought a POS Universal .30 carbine for $150. came with 3 mags and the double mag pouch that commonly gets slid on the butt-stock. It was fun blaster but that was about all it was.

My BIL had too have it and he gave me $100 and said he would pay me the remained on payday. After 6 mos. I was needing the $50 for a set of tires and called him up. He asked what size was I needing and I told him he then said swing by the house after work.

Get too his house expecting the $50 and low and behold there was a new set of tires in the front room, he said here you go. I was expecting too pay the difference and he said nope take them were even. $50 for a set of new Goodyear Regatta's I think they were a 60,000 mile tire. I didn't argue and didn't ask where they came from either.

1 month later he was over at my house looking for a reloader, I had just got back from a buddies house and he and his wife just split up. For helping him move out he gave me a new POS Lee press new in the box with two dies sets .223 and .45. When I pointed too the box there is a loader, he asked how much? I said $100 and he countered with I'll trade you that .30 Carbine back, I said OK take it all with you.

That weekend there was a gun show so I drug that POS Universal carbine with me and sold it for $500. before I even got inside the door. My wife's just stood there in complete disbelief, so did I. That night we went out for Prime Rib dinner.

Thanks Donnie, where ever you are.......

Garage sale. With me the only customer at the time.

Winchester Model 250 (.22 s,l,lr lever action) lying on the table with tag marked $ 15.00.

I asked the woman at the cash box if it was broken.

"Not that I know of."

"Well, you know, it's probably worth quite a bit more than $15.00"

"If you want it, it's $ 15.00." she replied.

I gave her a twenty and told her to keep the change.

Don't think I've done much better than that.

I still have it and it's been great over the years at thinning out the varmints around the farm.

Probably an Anschutz .22 target rifle with peep sights and leather sling. However, I purchased it in the early 1970's, so it looks like a good deal today. I've bought more than 30 guns in the past 12 months, some at a good price, but not better than anyone else buying buying the same item at the same place. I really need to get out and look around.

Last year I won a bid on Gunbroker for a S&W pre model 10 for $134. The finish is worn, but it is a good shooter.

Also last year I won a GB bid for an H&R/NEF 32 magnum snub revolver for around $115. Not only does it function perfectly, it had barely even been fired.

A few weeks ago I won a GB bid for a Ruger Single Six for around $135. It had some missing finish, some rust, and was missing a minor part. After a $20 part, some elbow grease, and some cold blue, I now own a well-functioning Single Six 22lr.

Best deal I ever PASSED UP.... About 12 years ago there was this Brand New In Box 4" Royal Blue.....Colt Python for.....$550.00, which, as the counter guy said, was about $100.00 more than the original selling price of the gun 29 years earlier! Guy wouldn't take $525.00, and I walked. 1/2 hr. later I went back for it and the new buyer was filling out the paperwork for it. I keep telling myself a gun that perfect would be hard to put to good use at the range. I never got another shot (no pun intended) at a Python that nice that cheap. I learned a lot about buying vintage guns that day!

not a gun but ammo. Nearly 300 rounds of mixed factory load 38 Special (much +P) for $20. One guy at work was getting rid of it and I was more than willing to provide a good home for the ammo.

I traded a Para Ordinance LTC .45 with about 5000 rounds through it which, had FTF issues (I was not happy with Para customer service) for a new unfired AR, I scored!

I traded my guitar for an HK USP V1 9mm. It's a 2003 model and the guy said he only shot two boxes and carried on his security job before he got a 686 then stored in the safe. I thought yeah right but when I stripped the gun there was no wear or hardly at all.

My guitar is a $1200 instrument but since it's a no name the resale value is poor. I quit playing over a years ago so it's no loss but glad to see the guy going gaga over it. It's a Carvin DC127 with some nice upgrades and well made.

Anyway I still have my handmade Harper guitar whenever I get the itch to jam. :)

I've inherited a few guns, so it's hard to beat "free".
I have found a few good deals over the years. About 15 years ago I got a mint condition blued gp100 4" for $160.
Last month I got a S&W model 15 for $319.

Some years back, Got a new Browning HP for retail $450. after beating it for two years, Traded it for a Honda CB550 Bike, couple months later traded the bike for 18 commercial two-way radios. Then sold the lot of radios for $1,800.

A stainless Desert Eagle in 50AE with 2 barrels - the 6" and extended 9", 3 mags and original IWI case. The guy threw in 2 boxes of ammo and a holster that would fit the gun with the longer barrel mounted. All for $1000.

I sold it at a gun show about a year later. A guy comes up to my table and just HAS to have the gun, but doesn't want both barrels. Gives me 1600 for the gun, then about 20 minutes later as I'm starting to think "Now how the heck am I going to get rid of this 9" barrel?" an older gentleman strolls by, does a double-take and asks how much. 300 bucks later he's happy as a clam - with a sweet holster to boot - and so am I.

Then there was the time with the run-of-the-mill AR I was in about 750 that I wasn't intending to sell but accidentally did about 2 weeks after SH to some guy that was ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE to get his hands on one. The "get outta my hair" price was 2500, I didn't really care if I sold it or not. Lo and behold he rips out 25 Benjamins about as fast as you can say "afoolandhismoneyaresoonparted" and it was his. I wonder if he ever regretted that purchase.

These stories may not be exactly what the OP intended, but the money I made off those guns financed several sweet firearms purchases, so I'd say they were good deals! :D

Some of what I feel were good deals:

• $450 Beretta PX4 D w/3-17 rd mags and 2-20 rd mags.
• $350 Bi-tone XD9 Mod 2 Subcompact.
• $450 Bi-tone XDm9 3.8 w/N.S.
• $505 FDE P320 Compact w/N.S. (Frame & Slide)

I've had two of what could be called good deals. But messed up both by selling. Both about 30 some odd years ago. First was a Taurus Model 83 revolver. When WalMart decided to sell out all handguns, I had my eye on it. The sales guy told me the price would go down $10 a week until all handguns got sold. I waited until the price dropped to $63 and bought. Then screwed up and sold it a year later for $150. Never even shot it.

Another was a Marlin lever action .22LR. A friend owed me $50 for over a year. I finally got on his case about it. He gave me the rifle in exchange. I took it to a gun show just to see what it was worth. A dealer offered me $150 and I took it. Probably worth twice that.

Mine is a S&W model 36 3 inch pined barrel new in box. got it for a $5.00 raffle ticket at a gun store and range grand opening.
