I keep five Speer Gold Dot 135 grain .38 special +P Short Barrel rounds in my S&W 642 ready at all times. They strike the perfect balance of penetration/expansion and produce little flash and manageable recoil. Pretty much everything I look for in a defensive round, and I've been packing them for about six months now and have absolutely no plans on changing them out for something else. They represent the pinacle in .38 special snub-nose defensive ammo IMHO.
