What were your best buy's?

I almost bought a beautiful 12 ga. riot gun with extended mag and rifle sights from an "old friend" for $75 until I turned it over and stamped in the rcvr was Property of Houston Police Dept. Gave it back to him (after wiping off my prints) and asked him to leave.

Deffinately the Ruger P-95. I knew I was getting a good deal, so I KEPT it.

Best hand gun trades were (1) traded a S&W 19 for a commercial Colt 1911 made in 1918 and a Mk 1 ruger .22 (2)traded a Llama .38 Super and $100 for a Series 70 Colt GM in 98% plus condition (3) purchased Colt SAA in.44 Spcl in excellent condition for $450. regards, birdman

A Glock 17 with a hi-cap for $475, with a Hogue Handall grip. Both were in absolutely pristine condition and the 17 is my new carry gun.

A Glock 20 with night sites and three hi-cap mags. The 20 had some slide wear but outside of that was practically new in box, as were the mags (no marks or wear at all). Price? $525.

I picked these two up within 10 minutes of each other at a gunshow two weekends ago.

Best buy I ever made was two M16s about three or four years ago for $3500.00 each. I have turned down offers recently for $7000.00 each.

I make good buys 'cause I am so cheap!
A few years ago, before the P-32 came out,I bought a Sundance Point Blank Derringer. It was in the case for 85 bucks, but I gave the dealer the " wife says I can just spend xx dollars". He reduced the price by 10.00. I thought that was cool.
I think the KelTec pistols were a good buy, and....... heck, all mine were good buys, I wait till they go on sale or a local dealer has an overstock.

A NIB SS Mitchell, an almost NIB Polished SS Gold Cup Series 80 and an 8" Python. I have a total of $1300 in all three. :) I have been told the Mitchell is worth $1300.

No doubt about it, the best buy I ever made on a firearm was my Russian Makarov. I paid, IIRC, $130 for it brand new.

Hmmm... My best buys would be a NIB HK P7M8 for $800 out the door and a LNIB HK SP89 for aoubt $2,500 that I just sold this past December for a shade over $5,000...

Maybe $450 for an 8" nickeled Python NIB chambered in 38 spl only over a decade ago.

Or maybe one 95% 1955 Browning 380 and one LNIB unfired for 400 the both of them last month.

CZ75B black finish with two 15 round hi-caps for $350. That's not a great deal on a CZ, most won't cost much more than that.

What you can't buy is a better gun for the money. You get the CZ for that (with the hi-caps) and you've got a gun that will perform at least as good as guns that cost twice as much.

Take the long way home...

A NIB kel-tec p-11 hard chromed for $195.
$208 out the door with tax. I have never had a jam, but I can't seem to hit anything I aim at with it.

BHP used. Non matching frame, barrel, slide. Three factory full caps. Throw-away leather for pistol and mags. Coating that looks like clear nail polish where it isn't chipped off. - $250. Why is that a deal? It shoots better than my BHP with the trigger job and other bells and whistles.

Sig P225 NIB k-kote&night sights - $459

P7M8 refurb w/tools, box, manual, & mags - $625

P7 PSP NIB - $950 (I know it sounds like a lot of money, try finding a better price)

Mauser HSc, 7.65mm, with original holster, still in the German equivalent of Cosmoline. A WWII vet had "liberated" what turned out to be an early wartime version from a German police station or arsenal. I gave him what he wanted - $35.

Also traded a Ruger Super Single Six even for a pristine S&W M27 (5" barrel, pinned, counterbored, TT, TH, wood case) to a guy who thought the .357 "kicked 'way too much." Gee, I guess I forgot to tell him he could shoot .38's! :D

A really nice (like new) Star Firestar Plus at a local pawnshop for $129. Surprisingly accurate. I've used in in IDPA matches with good results.

At the same pawnshop a few weeks before, I passed on a very nice Colt Slide/Essex Framed 1911 -- with all the whistles and bells: ambi controls, extended beavertail, adjustable sights, adjustable trigger, nice grips, and a fresh parkerized finish. Trigger seemed good. $325. I already had a nice 1911 and was looking for a CZ-75 (which I got later that day at a gun show.)

Went back, a couple of days later, to look at it again -- and probably would have bought it, but it was gone. (Someone else was more decisive; my loss was their gain.)

Best rifle purchase: NIB post-ban Bushmaster 20" rifle, Davidson's Lifetime Replacement Warranty, $655.

Best shotgun purchase: NIB Benelli M1 Super 90 Tactical, 18.5" barrel, factory ghost rings, three choke tubes, factory seven round magazine extension, $689.

Best handgun purchase: police trade-in Glock 23 with night sights and two new factory pre-ban magazines, $450.
