stile, do you actually shoot very much?

I ask this because I shoot quite a lot, with guns of all sizes, and while pocket autos and revolvers have their place (and I shoot them pretty well, in all honesty), it is much easier to shoot quickly, accurately with a larger handgun.

If you don't believe this, try an IDPA club that offers informal BUG matches, and compare your times with your small gun vs one of your service types.

I also ask this because you keep espousing front pocket carry as a be-all and end-all. Makes me wonder what your anti-carjacker plan is... Do you take the weapon out of your pocket when you drive? If so, where do you put it?

What about when sitting at a restaurant?

As noted in the Backup Gun thread, front pocket carry has its uses, but it also has its limitations.

I do believe I'll be switching to the M&Ps soon (specifically the compact 9&45). I'd like to get the 9 first, then gift the 45 to myself next year after tax time:D! And then while I'm on the quest for a .45- RIA Compact as soon as I can find one for a decent price! Maybe I need to change my username here.

Full sized all the way,either a Glock 22 or S&W 686 4 inch .357 mag.

I've said it before,i don't like little guns,i can't control them nor shoot them as well.I hear people all the time say that the gun they carry isn't really a range gun yet they still carry it.

Carry what you want but i can't see carrying a 2 ounce .380 or pocket gun with a 1/2 boot grip. All my fingers like to be on the grip to fire correctly, and shoot well.

I carry a M-36 S&W 3" barreled Chief's Special when on the street...in the woods, it's another ball game....most often it's a Ruger .44 Spl in the 4-5/8" barrel length Blackhawk, or....a Colt Combat Commander in .45 ACP. All three have dedicated holsters, ie. no pocket carry whatsoever, and will do nicely in the defense scenarios anticipated. Rod...BTW, lately I've been toting Ruger's fantastic new SR1911's...one heck of an automatic at the going price of $650. Rod

I put my KT P-11, as I said before. I say this because I will carry it as a BUG when I can carry something larger. Either way, I am carrying it. I find it ironic, really. When I got it, I thought it was a 'throwaway gun' with which I could learn about sub-compacts. Through use- a LOT of use- I have come to trust the little thing. Go figure.

I selected "pocket" pistol, but it's actually a SS j-frame. Not exactly a "pocket" pistol, but not has large as the typical compact guns out there.

I carry one that I'd like to have in my hands when it hits the fan. P229, P220, for example. Sometimes I go "light" and carry a P239.

I like the Clint Smith take on things---a gun is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable. As he points out, no gun is too light for carry. None too big when the shooting starts. Seems we think along the same lines.

And, of course, there's also the 642 that is with me, but it's secondary.:)

I carry the LCP about 98% of the time. I carry the PX4 fullsize when wearing heavy clothes, but it's a chubby gun and not ideal. I look forward to getting something in the middle range like the M&P Compact or a baby Glock.

For the most part i carrie full size pistols around the farm (open carrie); S&W 4006TSW, ZASTAVA EZ9, CZ-75B, just to name a few full size ones iv carried.

Pocket carry just happens more often especially in the Texas heat. Besides the first rule in a gun fight is to bring a gun.

Full size Sig 226 on hip & J-frame .357 in pocket.
