What should I do with this ammo???

I would be more likely to drink a half empty bottle of tequila that I found in an alley than I would be to pick ammunition up off of the ground and put it in a firearm. It would take an honest to god apocalypse and those would have to be the last rounds I had before I would load one.

Ammo is cheap. saving by using unknown ammo is not worth the potential losses.

Go ahead and call me paranoid, but if you do fire it, and something goes wrong, be prepared for me to call you stupid.

I would plant them in the ground around the house. Clearly they fell off an ammo tree and you should be able to grow new ones by planting them.

Or a giant bean stalk.

good suggestion but you must keep ammo trees well fertiziled with smokeless powder and that can get expensive

Buy a 40S&W Hi-Point to shoot them in. Acording to several Youtube videos, you can't blow them up! Besides, if the ammo was stashed in an alley that's the gun it was probably intended for!

Seriously, don't chance shooting it. If you can't find the previous resident of the house to ask about it, either give ti to someone who reloads to break it down for components, or ask LEO to dispose of it.
Probably accidental spilled by someone, but why wouldn't they look for it? Just not worth taking a chance on it. IMO

I'd give the local PD a call ...and ask them to send a car around to take a look ...burglars could have stashed a gun in the weeds /or in a shallow hole in the ground ...and dumped the ammo too.../ after they broke in to one of the neighbors and got spooked by someone...meant to come back / it snowed, etc ..

Police need to know you found it ...in case there is a trend in the neighborhood...

I was going to say give them plenty of water and good sunlight... But really since you don't reload. Give them to someone who does or drop them off at the local PD for disposal.

I wish I could find them around my home...I reload:D

get a kinetic bullet puller (borrow one if possible, but they don't cost much `$20 or so), and break down the rounds. dump powder, take brass and bullet to next gun show, sell/trade for ?????

contact previous home owner, see if it was his?
Or bag it up and wait to see if anyone comes looking for it...
Turn it in to cops....
give it to someone who is aware of potential risks, and wants it anyway...

secretly dispose of it by dumping it down a well at midnight...(don't get caught:rolleyes:)

Buy a 40 Glock or some other low end pistol and give em a try.. If it blows up no big loss... Just wear proper protection...

Give it to someone who can harvest the bullets and casings.

A handgun blowing up in your hands can really ruin your day.

Last year i found a sack of 38 reloads under the bench at the range. I pulled the bullets and put them in the pot and got rid of the primmers and powder and reloaded the brass.

Yeah there's no way i'd shot them! At the time i did'nt have anything to shoot them through, my brother in law got a little 38 and i would'nt even give them to him.

call the local police & turn it over; could be evidence from a burglary or something worse like a rape @ gunpoint or murder; big problem is that your prints & dna are all over it!
