What revolver would you rather have? 10mm or .44magnum?

Is this even a choice?

The 44 is by far the most versatile round of the two. Allowing 44 speial loads for defence and small game hunting. Std 44 magnum loads for deer and blackbear. And the buffalo stompers (300 grain bullets @ 1200 fps) for the really big stuff. While its not perfect its a better comprise than most. Must be why I own 3 of the things: Super Redhawk, Blackhawk 44, S&W 629. :D
(and I won't say where or when but I have carried a 29 conieled on a daily basis for a few weeks. No a real problem with my body size)

Give me a .44 and I don't really need any other handguns. A S&W 629 Mountain Gun would be PERFECT to my way of thinking. Serious hunting medicine, adequate for SD, and awesome ammo selection. Have been contemplating giving up my Wunder-nines for a couple of nice Smith revolvers. 10mm is a rare bird in my neck of the woods; everybody knows about or has a .44. (Mine is a SBH at the moment.)

.44 Mag

For 2 legged attackers there is always Corbon 165 gr JHP's and for the 4 legged the 300 gr bullets in Jacketed and lead persuasion. For plinking I reload 200 gr SWC's behind Red Dot and the recoil is like a 148 gr WC in .38. The 629 Mtn. Gun even weighs less than my GP-100. Seems like a win , win.

A short barreled SW 610 is nice. You can shoot 10mm and 40SW out of it.

But for a compact package, a Glock 29 is the ticket. 10 rounds on board.

And you can even hunt deer with that gun.

44 mag is just too large a round to fit into a concealable handgun.

Between 10mm and .44 magnum, I'd definitely choose .44 magnum. Its more versatile, and easier to find ammo for. Plus, you can use mild .44 spl loads for target.

Given the choice though, I'd choose .357 magnum over all of them!

did you ever read the story about the nurse who carried a 29 in her purse?

Seems a fellow desided he was gonna have his way with her one night. In a dark parking lot he brandished his small autopistol and grabbed her arm telling her not to scream. while he was distracted looking for a place to perform his nefarious deed she removed her 29 from her purse and fired 1 round into his arm(the one he was holding her with). well all hell broke loose, he fell to the ground then got up and fired at her wildly (he missed) she let off another couple of rounds and he fled. (not vary far though, he was apprended close by and taken to a hospital. Seems he lost all use of his arm. The full magnum 44 load had ripped most of the musle from it(his forearm) leaving it useless. Just an intresting story about the defencive use of a 44.
