What pistol would a modern James Bond use?

Just saw this new Bond movie. It was OK and Walther PPK was there too, of course. What do you think would be the best pistol for a real person on a mission today? My vote would go to something plain and simple like Glock G19.

I'd honestly say sig 365. Small enough to conceal, enough rounds to be effective.

You know, I think the PPK still has what it takes. It's a good looking little gun that is surprisingly accurate and shootable.

If I had to pick a modern gun for him based on pure cool factor, I think it would be the Bond Arms Bullpup. Doesn't hurt that the name fits... :D

Maybe I am a bad shooter but my accuracy results with Makarov and other pustols at longer distances have been much better than with my Bersa 380 (which is a clone of PPK).

If it is going under a tux, it has to be thin and small. Walther PP series were DA/SA pistols, with a slide safety, in .380.

I'd think a Kahr P9-2 would be a good pistol to use. 9mm instead of .380. Consistent trigger pull. No safeties to worry about. [of course, nothing to 'snick' off to show he is getting serious.] same capacity- 7 or 8 rounds.

I had a K9 pistol and shot it on same day was shooting grandma's PPK.

The K9 kicked a LOT less, and was more accurate. The PPK was unpleasant to shoot, moved a lot, and was less controllable for me.

Of course, now we have the Hellcat, and others of similar size.

However, we need to remember it has to be Tux friendly- not too thick and bulky.

That leaves out most Glocks, in my experiences. Maybe that also leaves out all 9mms due to slide thickness.

He usually picks up a heavier gun when in combat insertions. I think it was a SigSauer I saw in his hand at one point, but I don't remember if that was what he carried or picked up off a dead bad guy [he did that a lot].

...Bersa 380 (which is a clone of PPK).
There are some similarities between the Bersa .380 and the PPK, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Bersa is a PPK clone.

I went back and reviewed the Bersa's design to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything, but there are many significant differences between the two guns.

That said, I wouldn't think accuracy would be terribly different between the two designs.

Bond is a British agent. The British government adopted the Glock as their military and police issue. Therefore, Bond should be armed with a Glock 26.

Haven't seen the new movie, but The Walther P99 served Bond well, dont see a reason to change.
I think the first time I saw the P99 in Bond’s use was in “The World Is Not Enough”, and then again soon after in “Tomorrow Never Dies” and “Die Another Day”, etc. Has been a fantastic pistol for him and I think it would be a good thing to keep around.

Because Bond has a long history of using what the British government issues troops and police?

I think not.

They got rid of it in one of the Daniel Craig movies. Went back to the PPK.

Yes, they were on the right track when they updated to the P99AS. Casino Royale featured it, but they switched him back to a PPK in the next movie. (Purely for film nostalgia reasons, much like stepping him back into the older Aston Martin.

The PPK made sense in the Cold War era Bond films where folks were trying to do things on the quiet. Assassination was likely to be a bullet behind the ear.

They moved the films to more running gun battles and a more serious combat handgun would be indicated as well as long guns when going on the offensive. The PPK is just not a great fit for anything but nostalgia.

Realistically Bond should have a battery of firearms to pick from to tailor to situations. P99AS for general carry, P99AS sub compact (Glock 26 size ) for deeper concealment but some shared magazine capability. If he needs a thinner single stack, those are available as well. So, the Bond franchise could have kept “Walther” for nostalgia, while advancing the gear, like Walther has as a company.

Having a firearm that is not in the military service branches of the agents host country, gives some plausible deniability if a weapon is recovered. I often thought he should have used East Block/Warsaw Pact guns for this reason in some of the older movies.

But it’s fiction. Very likely a Glock would be most common, because they ARE quite common.

Seems many (not all, as noted above) overlook the fiction that he's supposedly provided with some of the most advanced technology available to man, but carries a ppk?

The majority that would pay to sit thru that likely have no clue anyway.

There have been dozens of knock offs of the PPK. Most in looks only and I don’t mean finish.
Offhand the Astra is probably the best quality knock off. Not that much difference in accuracy from other makes. To measure accuracy you got to shoot groups off a rest. There can always be a cherry lurking but most are just gut busters, capable of what they were meant for and little else at short range, with proviso they function.
I once was doing a ongoing test on small caliber autos. It started when I saw an article that John M. Browning often carried a 1900 32acp on his evening walk to plink with. So busted my but to pic up a 1900. Didn’t shoot for squat. Went through 3 more, all about the same. Not good enough to be a Kit Gun in accuracy dept. I continued this for several years. Me and Bro kept binder with Target & info on each model and at least 2 guns of same model.
I hear guys all the time talking about their cheap XX is accurate. Like just as accurate or more accurate than top of line model. I won’t go as far to say they are full of it because there are cherries in any production run, by accident. I would rather know what their measuring stick for accuracy is.
