What Military Rifle Would You Like?

30 cal. carbine necked down

Can you really get 3000fps from a necked down 30cal carbine round? Where can I get one. Why haven't I heard of this before? What kind of accuracy at 200 yds. Sounds like something that would be very popular.

Full Auto BAR yeah its heavy but its really cool.

ok now more realisticly An AK 100 series rifle with a faster magazine change ala AR-15 and a safety selector you can hit with your thumb. Or did i just describe a galil? Anyway those new AK 100 series rifles are pretty cool.. not to mention the Bizon SMG and the ak74 SU.. truley a weapons 'system' where many parts can be used in many different eweapons configurations, ie assault rifle, submachine gun, pdw, saw etc etc.

A Ruger made M-14 (with the improvements incorporated into the mini-14) chambered in a .308 necked down to a .270 (.270 Autorim?). What could possibly be better for a battle rifle?

The 5.56 NATO is not a good combat but round but this new 5.7x28 round is what is needed. HELLO Am I missing something here??? Less bullet and less MV??

I dug out a old sales brochure from Johnson Arms Inc. maker of the 5.7 Johnson in the 60's. The 5.7 Johnson was developed by Col. Melvin M. Johnson Jr. Johnson was the designer of the Johnson semi-automatic rifle and the Johson light machine gun.

The brochure offered four models one being a retractable stock model also they would convert your M-1 carbine to 5.7 and return your 30 cal barrel and the two would be interchangle. Ballistics listed for a 40 grain bullet were 2,850 fps.

Post from Art: That's at least 3,000 rounds on full-auto with no malfunctions. Aggravated lots of seagulls on the low-tide mudflats at Inchon. (If you walked out a half-mile or so, the MPs' jeeps would get stuck.)

Life is good, life's little memories are fun.

Art, I had to laugh when I read your post. My memories were firing a 90mm Recoiless HE and Heat rounds at monkey's while on brige guard (Bridge 27, Highway 19, Vietnam).
