well if you would like to know Southla 1, i have an M1-Carbine and an AR15 and i have shot the M1A, now i do like the M1A and i would like it if are Military would use it more. and about the Carbine i have, put 200-rounds in it one day in a time of 40-mins and it was Reliability as hell.

I'm completly unqualified to offer an serious opinion on this, but thats never stopped me before 
Slightly scaled up Robinson Arms M-96 carbine in 257 Roberts. Semi Auto only as the system does not seem too support full auto well, and I don't have much use for full auto anyway. Equipped with a good low power scope or red dot.

I checked out the site for the info on the 5.7X28 cartridge. I then clicked "Start", "Accessories", and then "Calculator" to translate "metric" into "meaningful". 
Anyhow, a 31-grain bullet travelling 2,346 ft/sec sounded somehow familiar. Guess what? Somebody re-invented the wheel! 'Scuse me. The .22 Hornet, 'cept'n' the Hornet's better.
They must have tested this vampire-victim on the world's thinnest Kevlar, for that matter.
As far as the M-2 Carbine as a base for some new cartridge, I know I "liberated" at least five 600-round canisters of ammo from the arms shack when I was in Korea. That's at least 3,000 rounds on full-auto with no malfunctions. Aggravated lots of seagulls on the low-tide mudflats at Inchon. (If you walked out a half-mile or so, the MPs' jeeps would get stuck.)

I say for each 25 men you have at least
3 squad snipers, well trained and armed with scoped m-14's these are for long range- plus with semi's they won't be outgunned in a close range firefight.
Five men with shotguns, pumps prefered, with buckshot, some slugs, and some 12 ga flash stun grenades these are for up close work, rush stopping, and the flash bangs are good for room entry and stunning the enimy for ambushes.
14 men armed with something that can shoot a decient group and has a kalashnikov linnieage, preferably in a 6 or 6.5 mm round(built on a 308x 1.5 inch barnes case), with tritium forward mounted dot sights. IT's Use?all around gun, must weigh less than 7 lbs
one man armed with an m-79'(leutennant preferably,if he pisses you off, you can slip him one of those bueaties from a mk19 ammo box, he he he)
one man with a copy of the old jap 'knee morter', for supressive artillary without the wait, also helpful for line of sighting the tracks of a tank, issue him a full auto pistol(g-18 or so)the knee morter is a very effective weapon, i'm suprised nobody has picked up on it thus far, kind of like a grenade launcher with more range and better long range accuracy.
Finally one man with a high cyclic rate SAW, mag fed, same mags and caliber as the assault rifles,(higher capacity mags though(a la RPK). use?--- rush stoppers, supressive fire.
Issue all the men a small autopistol in a medium bore caliber(something like a kel tec p-40) and make them required to have them on their person at all times, kind of like a helmet, up to date working equipment, hookers working for the government(don't I wish) and throw away the NBC equipment. lets face it, once you run out of mask filters, you're dead. no one is going to scrub you to clear off biological contamanants, so if you are exposed to anthrax or ebola or whatever, eventually, you're dead, take a few of them with you. If a nuke goes off near enough to you for the radiation to matter, then you're dead anyways.
really the NBC equipments only purpose is to save you from nerve gas, and unless you plan on wearing a perminant space suit, lets face it, bunje cording your pants leggs and wearing a 'darth vadar' mask is only going to work for so long, this crap soaks in thru your skin, and unless you can get away from it before it destroys your central nervious system, you are dead. personally, if they piss us off, I say we turn their country into a large glass floored self lighting parking lot, my vote? nuke somolia, what they did to that chopper captain pissed me off.
by the way i vote we bury all the humvee's and bring back the jeeps!!!!
