What Military Rifle Would You Like?

we have seen a lot in the last 2 weeks about the M16 not being the best Military Rifle for the U.S. Military to use, or that .223 is to little and .308 is to big, and then i put up a list of what Military Guns i would like are Military to use, but today i would like you all to put up what Rifle you would like made for are Military, or what Rifle that is made now that you would like to see are Military use.
now i will git this going.
i would like to see a new M2-Carbine with a synthetic stock and made to fire 5.7x28mm the new round that FN made for the P90-SMG and the Five-seveN Handgun, now in my eyes that would be the best Rifle-Carbine in the would:)

I used the M1 Carbine, M2 Carbine, M1 Garand, M14, and M16 extensively during my marksmanship and also a few places that were a lot less pleasant than the firing ranges during my service duties. The Carbines are a fun gun to shoot but as I said they are for fun not for serious business. The M16 I have never really cared for. The 5.56 is fair at best, even with all the improvements that have been made over the years. The Garand is very good but the M14 has a lot less moving parts, and the power level is almost identical. So the winner is M14. Besides that if you ever wanted to bash someone square in the kisser with a well aimed buttstroke, all you would do with the M16 is just p*** him off. With a Garand or an M-14 its lights(and teeth)out!

naver say that the M1-Carbine is only for fun, it is one of the best combat Rifles in the world, it was in 3 WAR's and it is still one of the best Rifle there is. and what i was saying was update, with a synthetic Stock and the new 5.7x28 round, then you have the best of the old world of guns, and the best of the new world of guns.

AND this topic in not for you to say what you don't like about the M1-Carbine of the M16 or M14 or G36 or G3A3, this topic is for you to say what Rifle you would like to see are Military use, or what Rifle you would like to see made for are Military to use, and only that.

Isn't the FN round smaller than the "too small" .223? Looks like a good carbine/pistol combo though...

Personally, I'd like a G36 as a carbine and something similar to an M14 as a battle rifle, maybe FAL.

I've noticed in two years at TFL that folks like to say why they like or dislike an idea. Personally, I happen to believe that providing a reason for a like or dislike helps in judging the quality of said idea.

I also happen to believe that it is not my place to tell somebody that they cannot explain their reasoning...

I suggest others consider this.

i find that it is ok to say you dislike a gun, but i do not like guys that say that this gun or that gun in only for fun and not for combat when all they did with the gun was shoot a mag or two from it and then they said that is not a real gun for serious business. in my eyes till you have use that gun in combat and only when you have use that gun in combat do you have the right to say it's not a good gun for combat.

In reality having recently quit the military how about:

Enough ammo to really practice with.

NBC Gear that has not expired its expiration date.

CALIBRATED DOSIOMETERS!!!!!!!!!!

A fully functional Gasmask in The Middle East:

Not a filter 6 years beyond the expiration date!

Comrade Clinton NOT my favorite person!

Dude, if I don't like a particular rifle I CERTAINLY would not like to see our troops armed with it. Now to the Carbine. First, the cartridge is anemic! I have PERSONALLY SEEN certain people that weight a hell of a lot less than I do take not one but SEVERAL hits in the torso and run off, or keep right on doing what got em shot in the first place. Take my word for it Dude, that can ruin your day! Second, the reliability of the M1 and M2 Carbines was poor. I realize that magazines have a lot to do with the jamming but somehow the magazines on the M14 don't seem to have that same problem, they like Timex take a licking, and keep on ticking. Lastly if you can ask what weapon I would like to see our troops armed with why cannot I say what weapon I would NOT like them to be armed with? How many weapons have you seen in SERIOUS use? How many of these weapons that have been mentioned here have you ACTUALLY fired?

To add to the Zorro list:

MOP gear that isn't as hot and that allows you to use your rear sight.

Lighter, stronger, personal armor.

Como gear and GPS on the fire team level.

As for rifle, specificaly:

5.56mm - Galil action - carbon fibre butstock and fore-end - bolt buffer - raised sighting rail for snap shooting - M16 type magazine well - safe, semi, full selector - charging handle on the left side of the reciever - 18 in fluted barrel - over-built extractor

Southla 1, do you look at what i said or do you post more and more and more and don't look back:D I Said That I World Like To See A New M2-Carbine That World Frie The New 5.7x28mm Round From FN, Not The Old .30-Carbine Round. So You Have No ID What The New Round And The New M2-CARBINE Mit Do In Combat.

Dude, do you think that changing to that caliber would make that weapon less anemic and more reliable? I do not. By the way you have not answered my questions. This is all I am going to say to you on this subject.

I really like the M14s. Actual power in a rifle.

I'd like to see them in 30/06 instead, though.. :) But that's purely personal preference :p

DUDE you should take a look at the 5.7mm Johnson aka 22 Spitfire. It is a .30 carbine round necked down to 22 caliber. 40 grain bullet at 3000 fps from a carbine. Thats much better than the 5.7x28. In fact it is just about right for a personal defense weapon. For a general purpose rifle I want twice as much bullet at the same speed.
BTW the 5.7 Johnson was made in 1963 hmmm maybe newer is not always better.
