I've only been shooting for a tick over 29 years, and I STILL ain't decided which I like better. ;)
Maybe I'll have it figgered out in the next 29.

As long as when you squeeze that trigger something goes flying out the pointy end, it's for me!

Rifleman, basically. Haven't shot handgun competitively for over 20 years. Tried clays a while back, and I think I'm getting hooked.

Oh ... as for "likes": put me down as field, target and defence, in that order (defence last for obvious reasons).

I'm like DorGunR, certain double shotguns(or even some autoloaders) can make me go weak in the knees(expensive as h%ll to pick those, though). Handguns follow very closely, esp 1911s. Double rifles and most other shotguns are next in line, followed by lever guns and ARs and finally everything else that goes bang when the trigger is pulled

Wheelguns, mostly.

Coinneach - hoplopolymathophile?!? I hurt my mouth trying to say that. It also made my brain ache reading it.

Rifle, mostly, then shotgun. Handguns are mostly for fun whereas long guns are frequent tools.

Military rifles have always been my favorite.

Make no mistake, I DO enjoy my handguns... wheel guns, especially. .357 and larger. :) I just can't remember the last time I have done a handgun ONLY shooting trip. Rifle only trips are common.

I think it's more upbringing than anything else. My parents were quite understanding about my owning several rifles when I was a kid. Handguns in the house, however, were verboten.

So, of course, one of the first things I did when I moved out was buy a handgun. Browning "Nomad" .22 was my first.

Still, I can barely remember the time when I haven't owned and used rifles. Handguns, by comparison, just seem kinda new. Something I've been working on. :)

hoplopolymathophile ?!? That sounds like a bad habit, a big fear, or something you could be arrested for. :D

I like long guns, short guns, medium guns, guns that go bang, guns that go pwing!, guns that ... see a pattern here? I just wish I knew more about them. Trying to increase my knowledge but there's only so much you can teach the mentally impared. :D

beretta and perazzi shotguns, handguns (1911), rifles that shoot really, really, well. used to shoot competitive skeet, went to the big shoots, played with the big boys, won , went home. new faces at the top make me interested in going back to see if i can handle them, but my kids come first. never tried competitive rifles or handguns, slap a shotgun trigger an few hundred thousand times, takes a lot of concentration to squeeze a rifle trigger and in skeet you try to just know the beads are there and concentrate on the target, pistols you have to focus on the front sight.... guess i really do not want to get proficient at either and shoot competitively. i will, however burn ammo in anything you hand me, just not as well with some things as others.
did the hunting thing, liked it, don't have time now.

I started out loving handguns. I came from a family that never had guns in the house, but I turned into a "gunnut"! After the army, fell in love with rifles especially the G3 as I shot that at schutsensomethingor-
other in Germany. I like all guns but focus on "assault style" weapons.

I'm a CHEAP gunner! Actually I'm cheap in everything, but especially guns. I get special delight from out-shooting guys with more expensive arms.

One day I shot next to a guy I didn't know, who was blasting away with a brand new Sig. I was making my bullseye into shreads with a $175 Taurus 908 9mm. He didn't say anything, but he kept looking at my target, looking at me. It was a hoot!

Last Labor Day, I went shooting shotguns with my buddies from back home. They both had nice pump-action bird guns, and I was armed with a $79 New England Pardner 20 gauge from Walley World. They were hitting about 3 out of 4, and I hit 20 straight. That is no great feat, but it was fun none-the-less. They wanted me to see how many I could do in a row, but I knew I was on a lucky streak, so I said we needed to get home!

Another time I walked up to the lane next to a guy with a tricked out Mini 14, and pulled out my Ishapore Enfield ($95). I was plugging them in the bullseye, with a huge KABOOM that made him jump every time. He was all over the place with his shots. I know I'm not supposed to take delight in this kind of thing, but I can't help it.

Tables turned on me when a guy next to me was using his older-than-dirt FEG hi-power clone to shoot awesome at 15 yards while I was struggling to hit anything at 7 yards with my new Glock.

Lately I'm into Makarovs. Couldn't believe how nice a pistol and accessories I got for so little money.

Any other cheapsters out there?

Do to the ease of pistol gun ranges, I would say I enjoy pistols (Glocks) the most. The outdoor range (rifle) is only open Thurs-Sun. While the indoor ranges and 7 days a week.

Few rifles, no shotguns anymore, handguns is my main focus, see one and I'm hooked... doesn't much matter what kind it is. Reloading is second best thing. Having the God given right to sell my cloak and buy one is number one.

While I enjoy most of my firearms, I have to say that I find the most pleasure, and have the most skill at .22 Rimfire rifles. I spend hours of fun plinking. When my son is old enough, chances are, we'll leave the big bores behind, and go squirell hunting, and plinking for a good day's cheap entertainment. I've just now started thinking up rimfire games like the 200YD coffee can plink, and the matchstick shoots. I'm just thrilled about getting to teach him about the fun you can have with a .22. So to make a short story long, I'm a rifleman.

Always loved the High-powered military rifles
like, 30.06 M1 Garand and the M-14,I shot a .308 Norma Magnum once, but always kept a handgun around.

Started out long ago with handguns, but since I've been lucky enough to get all the calibers I've really wanted, I've turned to the long guns. Hopefully, acquisition of such should pre-occupy my time and $ for many years to come... :)

I think of them as tools, and try to be the best craftsmen I can. I enjoy a well balanced and executed firearm. Ive never been much for etching or fancy scroll work, but give me the opportunity to make changes to fit the firearm to me---its a pursuit that I enjoy. I like firearms that are so predictable and accurate their boring after a while. ......I just like em....fubsy.
