I've been a hunter and plinker since I was 12, over the years dabbled in collecting and now at 52 I've streamlined down to a few guns. I still hunt a bit and have a CCW and pratice with my pistols.
I figured 'enthusiast' painted shooting sports in a more positive light. I consider myself an enthusiast because I love guns, but more than anything I appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into a nice firearm. I haven't hunted yet but I plan to in the future and I recently bought myself a .22 rimfire to shoot paper targets with. I don't really consider myself a collector....I only own 2 rifles. of course, if money was no object i'd probably have a gun safe full of firearms of all kinds. I haven't really thought of carrying a gun for self-defense or for home defense for that matter. I live in a low crime neighborhood, plus we have a dog. so the likelihood of my house being robbed with me in it is pretty rare. I would like to own a 1911 handgun though
I voted other ... I'm certainly an enthusiast and shoot for fun, but I also own several guns just for self-defense, not just home defense, since I have a permit to carry concealed ... need another category ...
