What is your Self Defense Revolver?

What revolver and load do you use, either for CCW or Home Defense, or other defensive applications?


For me, it's usually a S&W 686 4", loaded with federal 357b

I have a model 66-2 .357 magnum.It shoot great with 158 xtp's.It has 2.5" barrel

My BUG and occasional off duty gun is a custom S&W 360J that has been rechambered for 9mm. I load it with Federal 9BPLE 115gr JHP +P+

Normally if I'm carrying a revolver off duty it is either this Austin Behlert custom S&W 25-2 .45acp. I load it with Winchester Ranger t 230gr JHP +P

Or this S&W PC 586 L-Comp .357 mag. I load it with Remington 125gr JHP

My carry gun is a S&W 640 no dash in .38, this was before they started making them exclusively in .357. Pretty much the same thing as the 642 except all steel. I keep it loaded with 125gr Speer Gold Dots.

I have Ruger GP 100 in layaway.


Once I get the GP I might sell the 64

My home defence is a model S&W Model 66 2 1/2" with Hornaday Critical defence rounds and normally my S&W Model 60 during the day with the same rounds.I just bought a S&W Model 64 so I will rotate that one during the day. I also carry a LCP in my back pocket during the day.

The only revolver I use for any kind on SD and even then it's just tossed in the pocket when I take out the trash or mow the yard.

It varies. Usually, it's my .45 Colt 4" Redhawk, loaded with Hornady 185 grain Critical Defense ammo...but sometimes, I switch to my [high-gloss stainless, night-sight equipped] GP-100, loaded with Wal Mart deluxe 110 grain JHPs.

At home, a S&W 696 with CCI 200gr. GDHP.
