Mine are a Colt AR-15 and a Glock 19 because they're proven, reliable, and can do anything I need them too.

You know I never really get involved in these questions but I feel like crap and a little mental diversion might be fun.

Lets use Zombies, they seem to be the big bad du jour.

CZ452 .22 Long Rifle bolt action suppressed. Good Irons with a robust scope. Carrying a 1000+ rounds of ammo is trivial. I can hit zombies at long distance with an almost silent weapon, not to mention the hell I could play with small groups of human baddies if given the chance and lets be honest I am not gonna be spoiling for a fight so .22 works for small game etc.

Any decent handgun for true fast shooting close in self defense.

How's that for not the expected answer.
 
Lot's of good weapons out there. Thankfully I don't have to choose just one, so I won't.

Guess I'll take down the IBTL pic since it looks like this has taken a turn for the plausible.

You know this makes me think. Given a realistic scenario of short term run amockery (Katrina, natural disaster, short term riots etc.) I really believe a decent .22 would probably do most folks just fine. I would imagine the average looter would turn tail as soon as a couple of pot shots were fired at them and if needed you could take just about any game up to deer if necessary (maybe not humanely but for survival.)

Again in the real world you are not gonna go mad max, you certainly will be accountable for your actions at some point and chances are you won't have a roving bad of guys with mohawks and assless chaps hunting you down. So I think a decent .22 would be just fine.

Remember you said 1000 rounds. Spray and pray will eat that up too fast and then the zombies would be eating you. :eek:
 
I will take an Israeli Galil in AR pattern, its tough as nails utterly reliable at least mine is. Can use it to beat someone up with it if you have to lol. For my sidearm I'd take a FNX 9 that I just bought, I have not tested it thoroughly yet but with the 300 or so rounds I've fired it has yet to hiccup. (mm though not the greatest manstopper is plentiful and very common so I am sure I could scrounge around extra ammo.
 
Al, it's not that no one wants to play along, it's just that reality can be scarier than anything a person could ever imagine. You bring up Vietnam; I would wager that any soldier that saw combat there would welcome the thought of clumsy, mindless zombies chasing them instead of living, breathing, thinking foes. And Katrina? What of the horrified survivors forced to endure the images of their neighbors, friends, and family being swept away by the overwhelming force of nature? A total feeling of helplessness. Even just trying to think about what survivors must have felt would seem to do them an injustice and simply fall short. TEOTWAWKI threads are meaningless unless using contexts that are at least tangible.

Absolutely no offense meant, Bro. Just my opinion.
 
While I am pretty sure TEOTWAWKI/SHTF threads are banned..

My CMMG/BCM AR15 in .223 with my Springfield XD 9 will do me just fine.

My favorite rifle pistol combo right now is my left handed tikka t3 lite stainless and my citadel 1911. they tend to be what im most consistent with to send bowling pins flying at the range :D
