What is your current Car/Truck Gun?

Three truck guns, maybe four!

Shooters:
First, understand that I have truck guns for impromptu, but legal, hunts only. I have a single shot Rossi long gun that has a 22 cal barrel and a 410 barrel. I also have a Crossman break barrel pellet rifle (1000 fps) and a pellet pistol, pump up type, the brand name of which I don't real.

Live well, be safe

Hey Constantine

I also live in south Florida. A few miles north of you. One of the major consideration effecting my keeping a handgun in my car is security. I worry about someone breaking in and taking it. This is rare in my comunity, and I have yet to have such a problem in the area's I work.

I keep a small disaster bag with a change of clothes, personal hygene items, 2 MRE's, a couple of hand tools, a good flashlight, my .38 Colt O/P half a box of range ammo,Two bottles of water, a small first aid kit, a pair of gloves, and a camera. This bag spends nights in the truck but moves with me when I change vehicals.

Often I am assigned to work in Miami proper, but I find Miami is for the most part a safe place to work. There are some exceptions, but it's rare I ever have to work in any of them. As far as the heat I have never noticed any effect on my gun, or ammo. I take it out and wipe it down evey now n then, but the finish on the gun is shot anyway.

I just picked up this S&W Model 10-8 to use as a dedicated truck gun. The price was pretty reasonable due to the parkerized coating and a minor mechanical issue. Someone had cut several coils off the rebound spring so I replaced it with a new 14# spring and installed a Wolff power rib main spring for good measure. Now it checks out OK, we'll find out for sure sometime this weekend. If it shoots as nice as my other 3" K-Frames it will receive a "Big Dot" front sight in place of the boogered up original...

Miami is safe? That's weird to say Glenn...really weird....lol Oh well, different experiences?

I like your idea of the emergency pack. I had the same...You know how our weather and hurricanes are down here.

I was also going to say that, I've never noticed an issue with my ammo...Now....

You mentioned your finish being "shot away"? What exactly do you mean by that? Maybe that's from normal wear. Doubt it could be from sitting in the glove box right?

My CCW. Either my SA XD40 Subcompact, or a Ruger LCP. IF I have to leave it in my car or truck it is locked in a safe box cabled to the seat frame.
For all who keep a firearm in their vehicle, I hope you have the sense to do likewise! Car thefts and break-ins can and do happen anywhere.
I have noticed an increase in smash and grab car break-ins in the entire state. Sometimes they skip over things that used to be targets for this kind of theft. My guess, they're looking for guns.

I've got a Taurus Model 66, 3", stainless, that has spent it's entire life in the console of my variousl cars & trucks, since I bought it new in '95. Reliable, accurate, packin' 6 rds of 125gr JHP. What's not to love?

It is frequently accompanined by either a 1911 on my hip, or a J-frame in my pocket.

I carry a Ruger .357, SP101, as my CCW, everyday.
I have a BOB or 72 hour Bag in each of our pickups. Along with mine there is an old beater 12 ga. single, behind the seat...JIC.
My DSW has a BOB, in her truck also and a little 9mm for EDC.
She has a beater 12 ga. behind the seat, also....JIC.
Good to get Home with, which ever truck we get caught out in.

I thought that's what S&W made the Sigma for.

Mine is a .40 cal. Locked in a case right behind my seat, with the mags in the glove box. Only way I can do it in Kali. I can get that gun out of the locked case in seconds, though. So I'm legal, but fully protected too.:)

I can't carry at my work but I leave a glock 30 SF or my Smith 642. There's some security on the lot but I have to leave the lot to smoke so. Thy go back inside the home with me every nite though.

I live in Miami, same question with the heat. Curious about what it can possibly do.

I found that brass cased ammunition started to turn green and stuck in the cylinders with the heat and humidity. No such problem with the nickel cases, I check at least once a month.

I keep a folding stock Maverick 88 12ga. in the trunk of my wife's Hyundai with about 25 rounds of buck and 10 slugs. I keep a Mini 14 folder in my car w/4 30 round mags and it doubles as my patrol rifle at work. From '73 until two years ago I kept a Garcia Bronco .22 in my car. MY son borrowed that a while ago and if I live another 20 years or so he might remember to give it back. I don't leave a handgun in my car on a regular basis but do keep a box of .38spl., 45 acp., .22lr, and 9mm in each vehicle as these are my most common carry calibers.
