What is the best 40SW?

The .40 is fairly common as a Law Enforcement duty weapon in my area and it has an HORRIBLE reputation for stopping power in real life shootings in my area.

in my area it has proven to be a great stopper. Where's your area, underwater?

On the other hand, I can tell you about numerous one shot stops with 9mm

me too...I can also tell you about numerous one shot stops with .22's. Wierd stuff happens in life, who can explain it?

Now that's funny ...

your not worth talking about, and neither is your choice of firearms -

If your just here to be a troll. I'm sure there are forums better suited for your expertise. We tend to like to stay on topic around here. And your posts have been rather useless and unsubstantiated. Further more... TFL isn't a place to "talk about" people. Perhaps you should do some soul searching as to why you are even here in the first place. You don't like my choice in firearms and that is all fine and tandy. But, if you intend on smacking down one of the more respected brands of handguns on the market.....

Please provide the source of your knowledge in regards to the
Pistols are subject to failures after high round counts, meticulous cleaning to keep functioning

And don't try pullin the "SIG slappy" thing on me either. If you take notice to my signature, I happen to be a fan and avid user of both!

I'm quite interested in this.... I think the OP is entitled to this info as well. Considering your trying to steer him/her away from them, in a very negative light.

because I have an opinion that you don't like I'm a troll ? Do you call your wife, husband or girlfriend a troll if she/he disagrees with you - please grow up!!!

No, I have no problem with people having an opinion. That would kinda defeat the purpose of being a member here now wouldn't it!

Now... that you've mentioned that your comments were "your opinion". Perhaps you should have stated that in your first comment. We all have opinions, but spouting off comments that are completely false!? I think the word "opinion" should have been mentioned prior to your feelings being hurt because you were called out on a completely ridiculous statement. You should really have thicker skin if you intend on posting "your opinion" here. And that sir... is my opinion!

Cheers,
GTI

spouting off comments that are completely false

completely false, well now that's YOUR OPINION

BTW - you started this by calling me uneducated, you sir, are the one that started this flame war by your comment about my education, once again, because I have an opinion that YOU DON'T LIKE, you insult me by calling me uneducated.

Up until that point all my comments/opinions were directed about a manufacturer of firearms, not personal attacks directed to you - Now unless your the OWNER of Sig Arms I'm not sure why you should be attacking me for anything I say about any firearm...!!!

I used the word un-educated because it is quite clear you don't know your SIGs very well. And was an uneducated comment at the very least! Yet you claim to be a dealer in some of your other comments. I find this rather disturbing, that we have people selling off weapons, when they really have no firm grip on as to what they are talking about.

Just provide some facts for your comment. Or change your comment to "opinion". And don't expect to have negative "comments" without being called out on them. Again, I must stress the fact that you should grow some skin young man.

I'm not going to drag this out anymore, if you feel you need to reply that is fine. However your knowledge has been exposed, and I'm sorry for you that you're offended by it.

/me returns to the topic....

That's my point, I do have knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes with these manufacturers and you don't.

I have access to news you can't get or read - period.

But because I'm not about to name names or sources, it will go down here as an opinion, but it's more than that.

I must stress the fact that you should grow some skin young man

Again, with the insults- and far from young, your just an insulting individual, someone that thinks their better than everyone else I guess. Well internet spitting contests are about as productive as the war in Iraq - useless, but at least I can recognize that.

I have owned and shot a Glock 23, HK USP Compact, Sig-Sauer P229, and Sig-Sauer P250. The Glock took a lot of practice to stay proficient with it. The HK USP Compact was very snappy. n my opinion it was very over-priced for what I got. The P250 takes some getting used to, since it is double-action only. After you get used to the trigger, it is very accurate. My favorite is the P229. It is the heaviest of the four, but it is dead on accurate and has a good trigger pull. The other thing that I like is being able to change out the barrel with a .357 sig barrel. Our local police department had stainless Smith and Wesson autos in .40 caliber. I'm not sure what model, but they weren't the new M&P. When they traded them in a few years ago, the slides were very loose and sloppy.

Great thread (for the most part). I gave owned a Daewoo DH40 since new - ca. 1995/98 (?) - and have really enjoyed it. No hiccups except for early FTE (fully) jhps--fixed with quick smith-smoothing/deburring. Considered hi-cap (or med hi-cap) at the time, I would rank a few above this now--various Sigs, H&Ks, etc, but it has served well.

One question: why has staff not moved this thread to its proper forum yet? 99.9% of .40s being semi-auto (and I'm sure what the OP was focusing on).
