What is it?

I looked your pictures over. I don't think you have a 410. The opening at the muzzle is almost as big as your thumbnail. Measure the inside diameter of the end of the barrel. It will give us a better idea what gauge your shotgun is. I have a 12 gauge bolt action. It holds 1 in the chamber and 2 in the magazine. My father in law has a 20 gauge that also holds a total of 3. Yours has the possibility of being 12, 16 or 20 gauge.

Unless my eyes deceive me that is NOT an adjustable choke, it is a screw on choke tube. A picture of just the choke would answer it for certain.

I have to get the choke tube off the barrel. It's rusted a little bit. As you can see the gun was not stored very well.

if its an adjustable c-lect choke, itll have choke markings in increments... cyl-ic-mod-full as you tighten or loosen. if not, its a removable single choke.

the bbl should be marked what gauge it is, and..what it can handle. most likely 2.5 and 3" shells.
I have not used a magnifying glass on it yet. But so far I have not found any markings on it at all. Is there a specific place to look?

I did not notice any increment markings on it. But I'm thinking that it is a single choke. Because I can look straight into the barrel. If you look at the picture (I know it's not a good picture) you'll see what I mean.

You haven't noticed any markings on the gun, either.
Chokes don't restrict the bore. You can see down the barrel of any choked gun.
You still haven't told us the bore size.

Choke constrictions are generally so slight that they're largely invisible to the eye. You often need a caliper to determine if there's a choke in the barrel if it's not marked.

sounds like your gun is NOT the select choke system. as mentioned before, Mossberg did make a gun with interchangeable chokes, such as yours. marks should be on the left rear of bbl.

do you have any ammo laying around. what fits in the gun? its obviously not a 12ga. maybe a 16 or 20?
Ya its definitely not a 12 gauge. All I have is some 410 ammo left over from a Taurus Judge. But have not tried it yet.

So I found a box of 410. Was able to get one into the chamber. Felt as if it seated correctly. Put one in magazine. Pushed bolt forward and it picked up the round and put it in the chamber. I then pulled back on the bolt and the round was extracted correctly. I was only able to get three into the internal magazine. Not sure if that is the correct amount, but it didn't feel like I could get one more in. I'm going to try and find a local gunsmith to look at it and see if it's safe to shoot.

3 sounds about right for the internal box magazine. Don't know about the 20, but the 16s and 12s only held 2 in their mags (which also made them Fed Migratory bird compliant)

are your safe/fire indicators intact in the stock?
I didn't notice. I'll have to look at the area around the safety. I did figure out how the safety worked. Knew it had to have one and there's this lever looking piece behind the bolt. Wasn't a lever. It moved side to side. Pushed it sideways, pulled the trigger. Nothing. Pushed it back and the trigger moved back and click.

I quess I would like to know if there are any manuals around to take it apart to clean and lube. Might want to try and refinish the wood also.

open the bolt, pull the trigger, pull the bolt out. its that simple. just make sure you don't twist the bolt after you take it out. it must realign going in....with the trigger pulled as it does.

I have a ultrasonic cleaner that can clean the bolt with. Is there any more takedown on the bolt other just taking it out? I also noticed that the plate on the bottom of what I think is the magazine looks like it may be easily removed. Any springs I need to watch out for?
