What is a mouse gun to you?

Kel Tec P32

When I first shot it, I could not hit the broad side of a barn with it. That was very discouraging. However it was due to the fact that my large hands only allowed 1 trigger and 1 gripping finger (and maybe part of a second one).

I ordered the 10 shot clip from Kel Tec, and now I can shoot it very well. I do not claim that it is a tack driver, but I feel confident about my target.

My personal benchmark is to put 5 out of 5 rounds in a 4"x6" target at 7 yards. The P32 will do it now!

I still have the option of using either magazine. I also bought an extra finger extender for the standard clip, but was so happy with the 10 that I have not tried it.

I'm with those that say a mousegun is a gun chambered for a mousegun round. I personally don't consider the .380 a mousegun caliber so I don't consider small guns chambered for the .380 as mouseguns. The .380's are borderline, yes, but not quite mouseguns (IMHO). OTOH, if I had a Ruger P series pistol chambered for the .25 ACP, I would consider that pistol a large and excessively heavy mousegun.

My brother shot a mouse with his son's Red Rider BB gun. :)

To me, a .22 or a .25acp qualifies as a mouse gun. Possibley the .32 also.
.380 & up....starting to cross the line a little.

The term "mouse gun" to me means small in size and light in caliber, so a mouse gun would have to be:

a) pocket sized or palm sized and
b) small caliber, .22, .25, .32 acp, etc.

I suppose the new .380's can be considered "mouse guns" due to their size, but once you get to the .38 / 9mm range I'd personally not use that term any more. That would just be a good, concealable handgun.

Agree with NightSleeper. I've considered .32 ACP and smaller "mouse guns" in the past. I'd NOT consider a Kahr PM9, or even a Rohrbaugh, a "mouse gun" because of their 9mm chambering, despite their small size. Haven't made up my mind yet on the diminuative .380s.

anything below 9mm, fits in your hand, weighs 15 oz or less ... my old Taurus PT-25 would fit, but I don't consider my Kahr PM9 a mouse gun ...
