what if your training led to this - Katrina confiscation

I wonder how many cops actually got fired on or shot. You know they dont want that getting out. Just like the show COPS, they NEVER loose. ;)

That was a good testing of the waters so to speak, and from what we are told to believe from the media, a good thing. We all know whats on the TV/Cable/radio/newspaper news is the truth. Well, at least someones truth.

Obviously, tell the Pigs "no" when they ask if you have any guns. It's the same as telling a thief you don't have any money. Robbery under color of authority is still robbery. And LEOs wonder why honest people hate and distrust them.

That, my friends, is precisely what the Second Amendment is for. Eternal disgrace on any "man" who cooperated with those thugs and turned in his guns!

The fight for freedom is not in Iraq or even in Afghanistan. The military is there to protect our safety against possible foreign aggressors -- not our freedom. Private citizens who are armed with rifles and willing to use them are the ONLY thing standing between freedom and rule by the kind of JBTs we see in that video.

As for that POS who "heroically" tackled that frail little old woman, I hope he dies very, very painfully.

Pretty tough when the law abiding must take steps to protect themselves from the law. Guess I'll have to fit one to look like an umbrella.

What can we do to prevent this kind of infringement of basic rights?

That is wrong on so many levels that I do not even know how to begin. I am completely speechless. Unbelievable.

I would have to come back at the end of the day claiming that I didn't encounter ANYONE with a gun that day.

They didn't get any of mine...

Because the guns I left were underwater and I was in Texas with the rest. Hurricanes aren't that rare, the next time one hits the reports of people shooting at cops may not be BS like they were last time.

I'm not going to stick around to find out, though. I'll be far away eating good BBQ and drinking frosty-cold beer.

I didn't watch the video I will at a later date. I left with my guns during the storm. What made it even worse was you had LEOs from out of state confiscating weapons. I remember watching a video of some LEOs from Arizona telling this lawyer uptown that the had to hand over his weapons and basically he said I understand the law better than ya'll and I will defend myself and my property if you step foot on property and try to sieze anything.

From my cold dead hands!

FWIW, y'all better decide if that is how far you are willing to take it, because that is what it can come to. I don't agree with LE confiscating the guns, but everyone needs to realize that if you fight the police, the police will win. If they want to take your gun(s), they will take your guns, and if you want to fight to the death to keep them, well, that is what will happen. Then the police will have your gun and you will be dead or hospitalized or in jail, as opposed to the police just having your gun.
BTW, for the doubters out there, LE came under fire several times during the Katrina aftermath. I get that from officers that werer there on the scene and that I have trained, so I tend to trust them a bit more than the after-it-is-over reports from politicians trying to downplay the level of violence and problems that were going on.
And LEOs wonder why honest people hate and distrust them.
The overwhelming majority of honest people do not hate and distrust LEOs, it is only a small minority of the public. But hey, if you think they are so bad, why don't you join up and try to make things better??

I don't hate and distrust LEOs, but they are NOT confiscating guns at MY house.

Though I might lend them a few if they are running low for some reason.:)

It's true, i seen it first hand when our unit went down there to help rescue and clean up. Police and swat teams from all over the country were down there going house to house pulling people out of their houses and collecting weapons. Made me sick to stomach to watch.

...but everyone needs to realize that if you fight the police, the police will win.
If you believe that going in, your right, you will tend to fulfill the prophecy.

Personally, I dont believe they will win just because they are the police, or NG, or military, etc., they may possibly have numbers, and fancy toys, but if you use your head and keep it, who says you have to loose?

There are still some who dont have the defeatist or submissive attitude that we are supposed to have these days. What happens when the authorities run into people who are prepared and willing to aggressively deal with them?

I'd be curious as to the results of those encounters. Do you think we can get a truthful answer here, one way or the other, or is it safe to assume that the victors still write history? Then again, I suppose SSS would be a sane persons response from the other side.

David, I agree that when things are "normal" resisting police is futile. However under the circumstances brought on from Katrina the police force was in no position to organize and coordinate. An individual properly armed and trained could have prevented his or her weapons from being confiscated. A group of armed and trained folks would possibly be able to do so without firing a shot. No law abiding citizen wants to hurt good people. Katrina showed that many of those without guns for defense were dead anyway.

Here in Florida a scumbag shot and killed a police officer and his K-9 officer while wounding another officer. He was shot and killed the next day after hundreds of officers scoured the wooded area looking for him. He eluded police for hours just a short distance away from the initial shooting. Police said they walked over his position several times without finding him. Now imagine a Katrina situation with communication, air support, and man power not to par. In an area of complete chaos no less.

BTW this individual was armed only with a handgun and had no training.

Revjen45, "Pigs"? "Honest people hate them"? Please don't ever speak for me and I am as honest as they come. I have family in law enforcement and they are good people doing their job. A job that someone has to do despite the damned if you do damned if you don't attitude of today. Then they have to contend with people like you. Crap on the bad apples and leave the bunch alone.

Like the rest of you, I'm flat out appalled, to say the least.

So in all honesty - what are you to do if they get past the "do you have any weapons" phase? Do you draw on them and basically tell them to back off, because they have no right? I certainly wouldn't want to fire on anyone, but I'm not about to be disarmed without reciept (at the *VERY* least). It'd be good to hear what some LEO's think about this situation... I know I would be very, very torn as to what to do. Of course, I might just bury my weapons - Mr. Pelican case is quite water-tight! :D
