A good ole' Colt .45 acp will fill the bill. accuracy job, reliability job
pretty much meets my needs. novak sights would be a big plus but absolutely necesary.

Elite Commando?

If the Sig P226 is good enough for the NAVY Seal
Teams; then she's good enough for me.

Best Wishes,

If I were an elite commando, I'd just use my bare hands. Who needs a pistol?:D

I'd probably stick with my Glock.

Elite commando or not I bought the HK USP .45 because of accuracy, durability and reliability. So if I were a D-Boy or SEAL I'd go for the USP .45 Tactical for the same reasons and also for that option when you need to get someone's attention quietly.

HK all the way! The combination of their rugged design, finish, and accuracy make them the best in my opinion. A close second would be the glock. They are pretty much every bit as tough as the HK (if not tougher), but the slightly better accuracy of the HK makes it my 1st choice.

Custom 1911 in 45ACP. The Marines have the right idea.

Wait I thought that this gun was to be used my the militarys eliet in harsh conditions. Then why get a jamamatic 1911. Lose that sissy pistol and get a Glock.
PAT

What else but a GLOCK! Either a Glock 17 or 21. Tough as can be, accurate, reliable as any of the other guns if not more so. But I would take an HK as well.

I would use a HK Tactical .45, followed by Sig Sauer P220 or P226. I don't envision any forces ever using a Glock but out of curiosity, do any militia or forces use them?

It seems to me that mission profile has something to do with the selection of weaponry.

How would a shiny Wilson be explained away on a deniable mission? I can just see someone trying to explain a socom H&K to an Iranian/Tajik/Paki customs officer, who would look look the other way( for a "little bite") if you had a Mak, an Iraqui contract HP, or a WWII vintage P-38.

IF I were an elite commando? Man, I thought everyone here WAS an elite commando. You really let me down. I'm going over to HardCoreTalk.com where the REAL men hang out.;)

I checked...

..."other" because there were no boxes for "whatever I'm issued" or "depends on the mission".

Going into a brief, sharp situation like, say, four or five BG's with hostages that need to be rescued before dinner? A tuned 1911 would be the gun for me.

Spending a week up to my eyeballs in some malarial swamp surveilling the latest terrorist training camp? The USP or the Glock, please. It's as broad as it is long between those two, except that I have a bit more trigger time on Glocks.

I mean, whatever; they all work just fine.

Sign me up as other. I'm a peaceful civilian and so appreciate the wonder of shooting pistols on a fine autumn day at the range.

If I was an elite commando I would never carry a pistol It would be an MP5 or a Mini Uzi with a pack full of maybe 50 magazines, another pack of grenades.

Robb,
The Navy ordered the Teams the Berreta Brigadiers and they flat out REFUSED them. Around 1998-1999 the Teams ordered 1,500 of the "blackened" stainless slide P226's. The SEALs will not part with the P226 anytime soon. The Sig is very well liked. The only shotguns I've seen in use are Benneli's and souped up 870's.

Gunhead,
It is very common for people to think the Teams can use whatever they like. Not true. Everyone uses ISSUED weapons. The issued sidearms are the Sig P226(most common),H&K MK23 and the S&W 686.

BTW. The P226 is not the M10. The P226 does not have a designation. The Army & Navy did adopt the Sig P228(M11) for personell with hands too small for the M9.

If I were an Elite Commando...

...I'd just want some pencil shavings, a couple of paper clips, and bag of marbles. Why would you need more?
