What gun do you yearn for?

Colt Woodsman.

I had an offer from a drunk to buy one. I worked in a drug store in the early 60s. Im not sure I could have owned. Probably cause all the BS came with GCA 68.

He (customer usually pretty well gone) opened the box and said 'want to buy it'? I suppose $25-$30 would have done it. I didnt have it. Should have asked the owner to buy/witness and hold in the safe till he was paid off.

An M1 .30 cal carbine. Too me, that is just the prettiest rifle I ever seen.

The problem is that I have not heard of any brand (Universal, Iver Johnson, etc) that has not had feeding reliability issues. The somewhat little .30 caliber doesn't bother me as much as all the stories I hear of this weapon jamming.

IF someone made a highly reliable version of the M1, I would buy it in a flash. Until then, it's a "look at and wish" only item.

Also, I would really like a P-08 Luger that is in great shape.

Terry, the .30 cal carbine is not that weak of a cartidge.
Bullet weight/type Velocity Energy
110 gr (7.1 g) FMJ 607 m/s (1,990 ft/s) 1,311 J (967 ft·lbf). I would say I would not be effective past 200 yards and thats about it, but that was its purpose. To give a little more firepower to troops normally with a 45. I like the firearm personally and love the M1garand/M1Carbine/M14/Mini 14. There is something about it that is cool.

A Rock River Arms National Match 20 " Stainless 1:8 twist A4

1000 bucks is just a hard number to get to

Funny, I was just about to post the same thing. Look at it this way though, it's half the price of a NM M1A...

It's a sweet rifle, isn't it? I can shoot it as well as any with an M1A with irons sights.. and it is cheaper to shoot and has less recoil! Not to mention at first I didn't like the stainless finish but it has grown on me to the point of me actually liking it more than parkerized

I may still get it darkened though If i ever get one..

Eventually, I think I'll be able to own the majority of guns I desire. However, there are a few that will stay elusive to me.

Somewhat realistic ones:
F/A Thompson
Barrett .50bmg rifle (preferable semi-auto)

Far-fetched choices:
Browning 50 machine gun
Mini-gun

A blue Colt .38 Super. Used to want an L1A1 but I outgrew that.

Say, did you know that Stewart Grainger's real name was Jimmy Stewart? Don't know why he changed it.

A nice flintlock muzzle loading long rifle in .40 caliber. Must be fairly light weight but has to 'hang' just right. Since tearing up my left shoulder I can't hold my beloved .54 caliber Jaeger any more. Maybe one day after surgery. But for now I am out of the rifle shooting business.

Do they have to be something that actually exists?

-Robinson Armament XCR with 18" barrel in .264 LBC/6.5 Grendel

-CZ-97 with ambi safeties in 10mm

44 Auto Mag... ( yeh Clint ;) )

I had purchased a collection of AMT Automags over the years...

#2 in 22 rimfire magnum
#3 in 30 Carbine
#4 in 10 mm magnum
#5 in 50 A.E.

someday I'll get an Auto Mag 1 in 44 Auto Mag

Aarond... I alwas felt the same way about double rifles, & was extremely happy when I picked up a Remington Baikal side by side double in 45-70 last year ( one of the last to hit this country in the 1st shipment )... they were reasonably priced, & there were more 30-06's that came in than the 45-70's, so there may be one of those in your future if you looked around... ;) this one is an over under... but they also imported them in side by side form

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=182619044

they are not in my near future, but I wouldn't mind a little brother to my 45-70 :D ... someday

Definitely a Side-by-Side,,,

Can't pretend to be Allan Quatermain with an over-under.

There is an old geezer at my range,,,
great guy with an unbelievable rifle collection.

A couple of times a year he will haul out a pick-up truck load of exotic rifles,,,
He'll let just about any member bust a few rounds for the price of ammo,,,
He's hovering right there to insure you don't ding his guns,,,
Last year I got to shoot 4 rounds out of a .460 D-R,,,
Cost me $20.00 but man was it fun,,,
And quite painful as well.

If there was a place I could go to rent and shoot various rifles,,,
I would be spending lots of money there for the experience,,,
I want to shoot a Martini-Henry so I can experience Zulu.

A few months ago one gentleman let me shot 3 rounds or .375 H&H Mag,,,
That was very interesting and convinced me I don't ever need to buy one of those monsters.

That's one of the great things about my Rifle & Pistol Club,,,
For the most part, the members are friendly,,,
We swap guns for a few rounds a lot,,,
That's what got me hooked on CZ-s.

.

Thinking some more, since reading John Taylor's "African Rifles And Cartridges" a dozen times I've always wanted a Holland & Holland double rifle in 450/.400 Nitro-Express. I'm not a hunter so I have no earthy use for it but I'll never afford one of those unless I hit the lottery anyway. :p
