what gun/ammo combination do you most trust your life to and why?

Any Shotgun--preferably an autoloader-then an AK 47---then a .357 Revolver (probably a Smith--but not fussy)

But in my home, its MOSSY 500 with 6 rounds of #7 birdshot! Backed by above handgun!

In order of preference:
1. .308 Ruger Scout rifle
2. .223 AR-15
3. Any 12 gauge shotgun, semi-auto preferred
4. .45 1911A1, loaded with Fed 230 Hydrashok
5. .357 Ruger SP101 loaded w/ 125gr Rem SJHP
6. Anything else that will go bang
I prefer to trust my life, and those of my loved ones, to my fighting spirit. When the waste hits the ventilator, I will use any and every means at my disposal to overcome the opposition.

For Home: S&W 627 stainless "N" Frame, with a five inch barrel and full under-lug, loaded with Federal .357 magnum 158 grain Hydra-Shok rounds -- exceptionally accurate, utterly reliable, no concealment issues, and the .357 mag is still an awesomely lethal load.
For carry: Kimber Custom/Classis stainless full-sized 1911A1-type, with two ten round Wilson magazines, loaded with Federal .45 ACP 230 grain Hydra-Shok -- also exceptionally accurate, utterly reliable, packs easily, and the .45 ACP load is THE proven stopper.
