For M1911s, Hi-powers, Bren Tens, and CZ-75s, I would say a hard matte chrome frame and a black slide in a material like Birdsong's Black-T.

Yeah, it's kind of "1980s", but I like it.

Gloosy blue?

Might want to check your spelling; I assume you mean glossy blue. To me, the most attractive finish. If it shows wear? So what? Keep it clean, don't abuse it, and the wear only serves to personalize it as "your" weapon.

I'm kinda torn between the gloosy blue and the polished stainless, especially for my 1911s. But then again, somebody mentioned case-hardened finish. Wouldn't that same look be sweet on a 1911?;)

What do I find most attractive on a handgun? Its serial number, if it also appears on my CCW permit (not that I'd actually carry it).

I marked "Gloosy Blue" which I figured means "glossy". But if there is some new finish called "Gloosy Blue" count me out as I don't care for the name.

Really? Because I think "gloosy blue" would be a fabulous name. :D

I think the prettiest and sexiest pistols are the Kimber Eclipse series and their Springfield counterparts.

The stainless with black accents and laminated black/grey grips are just hawt.

Polished nickel

I like the nickel plating with a wooden grip a lot. Runner up would be stainless steel with rubber grip. I've been seriously considering a polished nickel revolver, but I like a gun I can shoot on a regular basis. So, I've had doubts about how well that finish would hold up under regular use instead of sitting in a box. Anybody have any feedback on the durability of nickel from firsthand experience?

I like either satin stainless or nickel - anything really in two-tone. I think the contrast looks sharp with the black grip. I only wish more manufacturers would offer a choice between the two-tone and all black slides. Glock, Beretta, Walther, S&W M&P seem stuck on all black. I'd love to see a Beretta Cougar in two-tone, or even the PX4; ditto for the Walther P99 or any of the M&P models.

Guns are like.....well...like people....consider....

Spandex and 6 inch heels are hot on Giselle Bundchen...yet, the same outfit on Rosie O'Donnel is a Tactical Spew trigger (thats what I carry by the way).....

In the same vein, the deep blue of a Colt is gorgeous...yet a Bright nickel Glock send shudders into the prebrains of any aesthete!

As one of my heros in the school of smarminess once said (indeed, Oscar Wilde was the king..or queen... of the smarms)

No object is so beautiful that, under certain conditions, it will not look ugly

Remember...the aesthetic value of a bright polished Hi Point is equal to a portrait of me in satin mules, a loinclothe, and a Carmen Miranda fruit hat...Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter. Wilde again

There's something about the melding of blued steel and polished wood. The two just seem to go together.

The royal blue of the original Colt Pythons was the crown jewel of all, but the highly polished blueing on some of the older Smiths isn't to be sneezed at either.

basic just the basic

in a wheel gun give we blue. in a 45acp parkerized:cool:I will admit to buying a shinny polished stainless steel just because it was shinny and it was a 45acp loaded springfield;):D

I used to like only deeply polished blue with walnut grips. Very nice and classic, however I currently favor the bead blasted stainless with nicely figured cocobola grips or stocks. This makes a cool looking handgun:D
