WHAT DO YOU USE FOR HOUSE GUNS i.e. HANDGUNS?

My carry gun a Smith model 29, six inch sits in on the night stand along side a model 29 snubby and Mossy nine shot model 500. But actually as far as house guns there are several. There are roughly 20 guns loaded in various places in the house. All .44's.

Right now a stainless .357 magnum Ruger GP100, four-inch, full under-lug, loaded with six 158 grain Federal HydraShoks.

After I go to the range this weekend, this will switch to a stainless .357 magnum S&W 627, five-inch, full under-lug, loaded with six 158 grain Federal HydraShoks.

I feel VERY well defended with either revolver.

I usually work three handguns,House and carry
Beretta 8040 Cougar
Glock 27 (since purchased)
Bersa .380
The Bersa probably will get replaced with the new/used S&W CS .45
All the others are safely stowed in the safe ;)

Like Mr. Irwin my night stand gun depends on which I've had out for play or work.

Like Mr. Casey they tend to be .45 ACP, mostly 1911 pattern, with a P 220 mixed in the bunch.

Occassionally the S&W Model 19 round butt works it's way onto the night stand.

My "always" gun, a S&W airweight body guard, keeps it's place snuggled down in a drawer on my wife's side of the bed. And I'm very picky about replacing it if I've had it out for exercise. If it, and I, are out at night the one I leave in it's place is a Beretta Model 84. I never take it out without leaving something that my wife is familiar with (and in the place that she'd go look) and that will go "bang" when picked up and the trigger pulled.

USP .45 loaded with 230 gr. Federal Hydra-Shok JHPs. Glock 19 stays with me at all times, even when at home. The 19 is currently loaded with Federal 135 gr. Hydra-Shoks because I used up my 124 gr. Gold Dots at the range. :(

I forgot to mention there's a Smith & Wesson Model 3000 police riot gun under the bed, stoked with 4 Remington No. 4 buckshot, with 5 more Sellier & Belloit 000 buck (12 pellets) in a sleeve on the stock.

I came home from work one afternoon to find it in the middle of the bedroom floor.

I panicked at first, thinking someone was fixing to rob me... Then I noticed that the stock was wet, and slightly chewed.

Damned dog! I love her though. She's my only "Ruger" (that's actually her name).

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Hello. Right now, my primary "house pistol" is a SIG-Sauer P220 in .45ACP. I would much prefer my favored 9mm HP or 1911, but this gun has close "commonality" with my wife's pistol. She is just not enough of a shooter (yet)that I would trust her under stress to disengage a thumb safety. The single-stack P220 is easier for her to handle than my CZ-75s; thus, my choice. My J-frame is always on my person as well and there might be another "surprise" or two about. Best.

I alternate between any of my mid to full size autos. My favorite house pistol is a stainless Para-Ord P13.45. Other top choices are my Sig 229 (in the drawer now), Glock 23, Walther P99, and stainless Beretta 92 (in the desk drawer at work). All with hi-cap clips and hollowpoints. But I've kept everything from a .22 to a .44 mag there. It really depends on what kind of mood I'm in when I get home from the range.

From the sublime to the silly:
Colt 1911 in a lockbox under the bed, PPKS for the glovebox and a Beretta Model 21 for the pants pocket forever amen.

SIG P220 in .45ACP rests in a GunVault under my bed. SIG P229 in .40 in my home office. My father has convinced me to trade him the P220 for a SIG 226 in .40, so the bedroom handgun will soon be my SIG 226 in 9mm....hmmmm.....I too see a pattern here.......Dan in GA

Colt 1911 with a Smith M-57 as back up, If the SHTF a AK-47 with a 75 rd drum as the last resort. The wife has a .30 carbine with a ammo can full of 15 round mags in the room corner on her side of the bed incase the AK runs dry. Also have 4 dogs on perimeter patrol, parinoid, no just a deep sleeper. You are more likely to be attacked by a killer deer than have a breakin here, duh we aint in New Jersy Toto. :) :) It is rough on
the Cali trans plant as they make a point of being the victims here too. :) :)

My house gun is the same thing that I carry: Glock 26!!! :D Ever since I was seduced by the Dark Side, I don't feel the need to use any thing else, except my Glock 19. ;)

I keep my mod. 66 loaded with .38 spl FBI loads in my bedroom and a mod.950 jetfire loaded with magsafe 25's in my pocket.

My "nightstand" gun is a Colt Dakota revolver loaded with Glaser safety slugs... And a 1.5 million candle-power flashlight. Practically qualifies as a weapon in it's own right.

At my bedside is a Glock 19, with a spare mag and a Kydex paddle holster, along with a large Maglite. In my living room I keep a Makarov (again with a spare mag) and a buck knife in my endtable drawer. Also keep my grandad’s old solid cane near the front door—that thing is solid! There are a few knifes spread throughout the place, too.
BTW, as I become more and more enamored with the Mak, it may replace the G19 as my main house gun. Heck, I might order a couple more Maks and stash one in each room!
