what do you think is the most under appreciated gun on the market?

The Ruger SR9c gets a little love here, but not much considering how good and inexpensive it is. It can still be purchased new for ~400 and at that price I don't think it can be beaten. Its loaded chamber indicator and thumb safety are deal breakers for some. I am indifferent about the loaded chamber indicator and like the safety. I bought one early and since that time several in my circle of friends have bought one. I and a couple others carry and train with one regularly with outstanding service.

K_Mac The sr9c is the gun that made me love shooting! I wasn't interested in shooting much at first, just getting a handgun to protect my loved ones. The first gun I bought was a hi point in .40 S&W. It served its purpose, being in college and not able to carry on campus, a full sized brick that didn't cost much was ideal. I sold it later and bought the SR9c as my first carry gun. That changed shooting for me, I absolutely loved that gun! I wish I had kept it. I ended up trading it with cash for a g19. I love my glock 19 and carry it often, but still wish I had just saved a little longer, made my lunch more and stopped getting my daily starbucks until I could have just bought a g19 cash and kept the sr9c.

The Keltec P32 and P3AT have been imitated a lot (if I understand correctly) but don't seem to get much respect. Maybe because they are relatively inexpensive and not beautiful. But mine has functioned perfectly for around five years now and is often in my pocket.

Walther PPX. Its not pretty, but it is an incredible handgun. I'm sure its cosmetic appearance is the main reason behind it being under appreciated.

They can be found for under $300 on sale in certain places and less than $300 for a quality Walther handgun is an insane deal if you ask me.

Im ashamed to admit that I shoot better with it than some of my much more expensive handguns.

The Walther PPX is another one. Very smooth trigger pull and very accurate shooters.

Most of my guns are underappreciated.
Hi-Point
Taurus
Phoenix HP-22
Heritage Rough Rider
SD9VE
Rock Island Armory 1911
Ruger 22/45 Mark III is the only gun that is "appreciated".

I would add the Beretta 92 FS to the list. A new one can be obtained for well under six hundred bucks. Academy Sports shows it at $559.99. Compare this to the new price of a Sig P226 or P229. I have no idea what a Glock or a Smith semi-auto in 9mm run in price.

Brando, I know you didn't ask me but I'm gonna give my .02 anyhow [emoji3]. The HP22 is a GREAT little plinker. Mine is a ton of fun plinking. The best 120 bucks I've spent on a gun. The ridiculous safeties are annoying but you can do something about that.

gyvel

What's made in Turkey, should stay in Turkey.
I think this response gives us a good answer. Probably three quarters of the answers are Turkish made guns, and there is still a sentiment that they aren't any good because of where they were made.

And that's ok, because it will keep the prices down :)
I own a 1911 made in Turkey, got it under $300, it looks and shoots just fine.

Of the guns I own now I think the Bersa BP9cc in highly under appreciated. It is small, light, and thin enough to suit my tiny hands and its stock trigger is really light with a short reset. CTD sells them for $370ish.

osbornk - Whats your thoughts on the HP22? I've been interested in one for a while just haven't bought one yet.

I like the little thing a lot. It is supposed to shoot SV ammo but I used HV ammo because it was all I could find. The slide cracked at a little over 3,000 rounds but they replaced it without questions. I mailed the slide to them through the mail and they returned a new one to me in exactly a week. It's accurate and about the size of my Taurus TCP but double the weight. I got the 5" barrel for it but I can't tell much difference shooting it.

The Beretta PX4 line deserves mention in this category. They are very soft shooting, with a nice feel to the grip, and good accuracy, but they don't get talked about very much.

I recently had the chance to spend an afternoon with one of these in .40 S&W. I was blown away by how the rotating barrel system changed the recoil dynamics. The recoil felt softer and straighter than what I'm used to for that round. I was also surprised at how well I shot with it right out of the gate, in both double and single action.

My only complaint is the goofy safety levers. They stick out like wings or the kind of ears that get a kid teased on the playground. Luckily, there is a factory conversion kit that replaces them with a low-profile version and changes it to decocker only. If I get around to buying one, that will be a necessary upgrade.

The Ruger SR series are some of the best striker fired, polymer pistols I've shot and they get absolutely no respect

Taurus PT111 G2..

This one is the best feeling and shooting compact 9mm I've ever experienced.

GREAT trigger... extremely short reset. Double strike capability. More accurate than a self defense pistol should be.

Reliability? Mine has had ZERO malfunctions after 500+ rounds.

Not quite a front pocket pistol, but it holds 11-12 rounds, depending on the strength of your thumb...

Mine was $230 out the door at a gunshow. They were on sale nearly everywhere for around $250, and Taurus had a $50 rebate going, which made it an honest $200 gun. If I had the money, I'd have at least a couple more of them.

SCCY and new Sigma's

I see the new Sigma's mentioned a lot and having owned a SDVE40 and a SCCY CPX-2 I have to say I'd take the SCCY all day I know they have improved the trigger on the SMITH so thats the only area that it wins head to head. The SCCY has a long trigger pull but it is better for concealment. The grip is way better and the warranty's are not even close so SCCY wins there! Then the Price both are around 300 but I never see the Smith for under the 300 mark but SCCY you can get for 220 to 250 all day. Plus you have the color options and a safty option if you want that option. I'm not big on colors or the safety.. The SCCY you get the feel of a 500 dollar gun for 250..

I think that the Sig P250 is way underated, I like it better than the other American brands. Hi-Point is by far the most under rated american firearm. I just recently purchased a 995st carbine and it is accurate and well put together. I enjoy shooting it a lot.
