What do YOU think is the "best" gun oil for lubrication?

Lots and lots of possibilities. I prefer plain old Break Free CLP...just because I have used it for years and it seems to do a good job. None of them are miracle products...some just cost more because they have a better line of BS.

I changed the oil in my rear diff a few months ago with a synthetic 75w-90. I have about a cup of the stuff left. I am thinking of giving it a try. It is pretty good stuff.

Frankly, I don't think there's much practical difference in how well the various gun oils perform in terms of lubrication.

There does appear to be a significant difference in how well they protect against corrosion, and there are other issues that may be relevant to carry guns, such as the toxicity of the product. After all, a carry gun is likely to be in contact with skin or clothing a good deal of the time.

I'm still with the guy who said "whatever free sample was in the match goodie bag."

I have a little sample tube of Froglube. It seems pretty slick and I will use it on my aluminum framed Mixmaster A IDPA ESP in spring and I am shooting frequently. I have read enough about it going rancid in storage that I am leery of leaving it lay. In the meanwhile, I am lubing that gun with Brownell's Friction Defense samples, my Nanolube sample having run out.

The last lube I bought was Militec 1, of which I still have a good deal. I lube my Kahr E9 with it. Otherwise, I have blended some of it with a pre-CLP milsurp oil (It originated as a gear lube additive.) and it does ok but nothing special. I will not buy more, but the mix is fine on my steel framed guns.

Price of Gun Oil:

I have a few firearms and I clean them regularly, but since I use so very little oil at each cleaning, the price of the oil does not affect me.

I like ProLong SPL100 and Ballistol. I have a nice collection of other firearm Lubes.

I use some good old 10w-30 for most things, and high temp bearing grease for any really high friction areas, like slides. As long as you take your guns out and wipe them ocasionaly, you should be perfect.

Best? I have no idea what is best. It would take ten lifetimes of research to find out what's best. I do know that I've had zero issues using any gun lube on the market, past tense included. "What lube?"is over thinkin created by wintertime blues.

I just use some stuff called "gun oil" that I got at Wal-Mart. It works on fishing reels too.

Reel oil oddly enough, works on guns too. ;)

Never seen video but it is impressive. I already use FP-10 because there's a gun store in college station , TX that I asked their opinion of a good lubricant and they told me FP-10 was about the best.

In my formative years, my cash flow from mowing lawns was meager to say the least. I had a JC Higgins semi-auto .22 and a JC Higgins single shot 20 gauge.

My lube of choice was LSA, due to the fact that a local surplus store sold the
4oz bottles for 25 cents.

It worked very well and I got to love the smell of it.

I know it is still available here and there, but not at the old surplus price, so I use modern gun oils now.
