I am a Glock owner. I think there one of the best pistols ever made. One of the best defense handguns! There very reliable (if not the most reliable), pretty accurate, offer high capacity, light weight, low recoil, and a perfect fit with my hands.

I love my Glocks but I am interested to hear what other avid shooters opinions on them are. Would you trust your life with one? Would you choose one as a sidearm (model of your choice) if you where sent off to war? Did you ever hear of any problems with them or experienced any your self? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Reed

Glocks are like the VW Beetles of the gun world... They garner a very passionate following by those who own one. But most owners grow out of it, and move on. Some years later they will wish they had kept it around for ammusement purposes.

I owned one, a 9mm 17... then I got over it... I was thinking of getting a .40 longslide version - but I got over it...

I don't think about Glocks.I think that aligning the sights is like looking down the deck of an aircraft carrier, I don't like the sproing feeling(another new technical term) that results from pulling the trigger, I don't like the way they look, and I don't like the way they fit my hands. That said, I have acquaintances whose opinions I respect that wouldn't carry anything else, and that shoot them very well. Their reliability seems beyond question. Enjoy yours.

I know some don't like the looks of Glocks but, pretty is as pretty does for me. I have G20, 23, 27, and 29 and they are my favorite guns of all my collection. The trigger took a little getting used to but now I love it too. They practically define reliable function and I would be happy if I could shoot up to the accuracy of these guns. They conceal and pack easily, sweat doesn't seem to bother them, and are easy to clean and maintain. They seem to be the best shooting 10 mm guns on the market and I think the 10 mm is the most practical cartridge around with the widest spectrum of loads available for hunting and self defense. I have collected guns for over 65 years and my Glocks would be the last to go if I had to part with some of my guns.
Count me as a fan, if anything I said was ambiguous. :D
I did replace the sights with Meprolites so I guess one might conclude I don't find them perfect. Just the best "out of the box" guns I have ever had. :D

Glocks, yeah Glocks.

In the past eight years I have owned five different Glocks (19,21,22,23 and 35) and currently own one (23). I've sent over 24,000 rnds downrange with ZERO malfunctions and ZERO K.B.s.

The Glock pretty much fulfills my idea of a tool for survival in a close combat senario.

Gaston Glock he's the man.

Then, I discovered the H.K. USP 40C. I had to trade my G-35 for it, and I have not looked back. Never thought that would happen. But it did. I'm currently reliability testing my H.K. If it goes 1000 rnds w/no malfunctions, with various bullet styles and power levels, it will replace my G-23 as my favored carry weapon.

And in order to maintain continuity with my weapons, the G-23 may up for sale. I'll have to get an H.K. USP 45C.

The heresy of it all.

After years of walking past all of the Glocks piled high on dealer's tables, I recently bought one, a G19. It is not a pretty gun. It does not have the grace or engineered beauty of my other guns. And I will not fall in love with it like I have some of my other guns. However, it is a heck of a self defense tool. It is VERY durable and VERY reliable. Accuracy is acceptable - for self defense. The trigger, which many consider a bad joke, does have its advantages - purely for self defense. When I load up the range bad, my CZ 75 flies into it with a wink and a smile. The G19 goes in with a grunt and a serious look. One is for survival, one is for fun...

Never owned one, thought about it a few times though. Shot one once, put 50rds through a full-sized 10mm version. Worked, and was accurate. Too many good looking guns on the wish list before I go for ugly though. :)

I don't think Glocks are all that ugly. They have very clean lines and a modern look. They are actually very "minimalist", which is not surprising considering the country of origin. I don't think the 1911 or a Hi-power is any better looking. All those relief cuts and levers give them a "gee-gaw" kind of look.

People tend to feel the same way about the AR15 vs. the M14, until they have to carry one all day.

Joe the Red Neck, I don't even want to think about my M30 being associated with socialist architecture and design. Bauhouse Blaster? I think its form simply follows and doesn't impair its reliable function. It may incorporate newer materials in ways that are hard for some purists to accept and many of their veiws are legitimate concerning the gun, but are ultimately subjective. I trust my life to this gun because "I" can use it best so far. If I grow out of it so be it. I like more guns than I can afford. I respect and admire the 1911 and want one as soon as I can afford the right one, training, ect. Even then I will have to be able to use it best to trust my life with it.

Glock!?
What Glock?
Oh, you mean the black plastic thingy in my tool box? It's just another handy tools, like a hammer, or screw drivers, or a can of WD-40 etc. Pick up, aim and squirt, then it always does with what I want to get it to do. That's all I thought of it. SierraLima.

I think the Glock is ugly and I don't like the trigger. Every other gun I own looks better and nothing feels better in my hand than my Browning Hi-Power. But...I own two Glocks and will probably get a couple more. I shoot a Glock more often than any of the others and that isn't likely to change. The Glock is simpler, has less parts, is easier to strip (all the way), is more durable, weather resistant, etc, etc, etc.

Let me put it another way. It used to be that gunmaking was as much art as science. A finely made gun was as much a joy to look at and handle as it was mechanically functional. Gaston Glock managed to eliminate most of the art when he created the most mechanically sophisticated yet simple gun in the world. For all it's faults, real, perceived or just personal, I think the Glock has set a standard for durability, reliability, accuracy and price in a single package that is only rarely equaled but has yet to be beat.

I for one love how the Glocks look, at least the ones with the 4.5" bbl or shorter.

At first I thought that they were just a gimmik and didn't like the feel of them. Then I tried my brothers G17 and was impressed. I bought a G27 and was even more impressed. While at the police academy, I saw them out perform everything else on the range.

They are the best fit for my hand, and they seem to point better for me than anyting else.

After saying all that, I like other brands as well. I just can't understand the love/hate relationships some people have with handguns.

I look at this way, just because you like Courtney Cox doesn't mean that you can't like Jennifer Anniston as well.

Greetings. I'm a big fan of Browning HPs, CZ-75s, and 1911s. I do own one Glock G22. The weapon has proven reliable, has decent accurace, and comfortable. It, in my opinion, is not the most beautiful arm made, but it fully meets its purpose. Best.

Combat Tupperware. Ouch! Who threw the rock?!

More seriously, I have a 45 and a 10mm Glock. Funny but I find the 10 shoots much better for me than the 45.

I have several GLOCKS,but not more than 1 of any other brand. They require less care, less training to use,and cost less than most others. My main carry gun is a G19 now.I feel confident that it will work when needed.I used to "SIG UM", and still think the SIGS and HK are great also, but in my present state of mind GLOCK has the edge. :)

Oh no, not this again ;)

I love Kodiac's wording, even if I may not %100 agree (maybe just %99?). :D

Glocks are "good enough" guns for a good price. Nothing wrong with them. I am known to carry one at times, but it is not my first choice.

I don't think about them too much. :)
Let me state,I think they are reliable and accurate, and some what durable.I also think they are fine for LEO when a supposedly secure firing mechanism is mandated.Or for an introductory pistol for a new semi-auto shooter. Both of those scenarios are combined way too often.
The Glock does'nt feel good in"my"hand and I think they're uglier than a can of worms :)
Please don't throw rocks or flaming hunks of 9mm copper and lead. This is an opinion, only an opinion.Throw cash, I'm saving for another 1911 :)

Jeff A.

Never owned one, but have shot versions in 9mm, .40, and 10mm. All of them were very easy for me to shoot accurately, and all had surprisingly little recoil, even the 10mm with full power loads.

Will I ever own one? I have the feeling a G21 will win me over. I won’t be abandoning my P220 any time soon though.

My 1911 is my first love, no doubt. The Novak tuned Browning Hi-Power that resides with me is both elegant and graceful and the most reliable handgun I have ever owned (including revolvers).

What goes in my coat pocket or the console of the car when I leave home? My Glock 30!
