What do we nickname ultra-sub compacts?

Colts could be ponies, but as a singular they violate the "-ie" rule:)

You could always nickname a Car-15 Carrie

"I've got a rocket in my pocket"

Seems a good enough way to scare someone undesirable off, fitting don't you think?

Some of the nicknames I don't like. Calling a shot gun a shottie doesn't sound right. And I've never heard anyone who hunts or shoots clays call their shotguns shotties, so it seems like a ghetto term to me.

But the term snubbie seems to have caught on.

If Jeff Cooper were here, he'd start calling these things some term like "micromatics" and in a few weeks the whole shooting world would be referring to them that way.

Where is Robert Shimek when you need him?

I think pocket pistol is fine.

Agreed - if the shoe fits, wear it.

Pistols that fit in the pocket are "Pocket" pistols.

I typically classify 3" barreled single stack "slim" pistols as "Sub-Compact"

3-3.5" double stack pistols as "Compact"

4" pistols as "Mid-Size"

4.75"+ as "Full-Size"

Pistols that fit in the pocket are "Pocket" pistols.

Still have a pair of jeans that was "trendy" in the late '90s.

I can fit a full-size 1911 in the back pocket of those things. Makes the back sag, but that was trendy then too:D

you get the idea...maybe it's the "ie" ending...
So, if we "pocket sized" a CZ75b we could have a "Bobbie" , or a "CZsquared".

Somehow a CZie doen't have the same ring to it!

What about "pocket auto"? It fits perfect because it is a pocket pistol but it differentiates that it is semi-auto and not a revolver.

My wife calls my TCP my "P.P." because I told her it was a pocket pistol. So now I am trying to untrain her of that nickname.

I personally think "pocket auto" is a great name though.

Oh yes, I also hate "Shottie". When I hear someone say that I picture that they have a ridiculous "tacticool" Mossberg 500 with more money spent in what is hanging off of it then the gun itself.

I also hate "mossy" for Mossberg. And the jury is still out if I will ever name any of my guns like other guys do. I am leaning toward not. Maybe if I ever get duplicates of guns or manufacturers, but I doubt I will ever get duplicates.

Have you ever tried plinking with 10- or 15-ounce handgun? I have and it's not practical. And why would you refer to a finely crafted machine that fires bullets accurately and reliably as a toy?

I'm thinking a good name would be Big Little Guns. Okay, I stole it from the Big Little Books that were introduced in the '30s.

Yup, yesterday, and I can't for the life of me stop limp-wristing the darn thing unless I squeeze down on it like the Incredible Hulk. I stopped carrying it for now in favor of the bulkier .45 - no longer sure that in a high-stress situation I could get off more than 1-2 shots before a jam:(
